Vision Statement: We envision a thriving, connected community where London’s canals and historic narrowboats are a source of pride, learning, and wellbeing — a shared space where everyone feels welcome and included.
Core Values
- Community – We exist to bring people together, creating welcoming and inclusive spaces on and around London’s canals.
- Heritage – We care for and share historic narrowboats, keeping canal traditions alive for future generations.
- Accessibility – We believe everyone should be able to enjoy the waterways, regardless of age, ability, or background.
- Wellbeing – We promote the physical and mental benefits of time spent on the water and in nature.
- Education – We inspire learning through hands-on experiences of history, waterways, and environmental stewardship.
-
Sustainability – We protect our boats and waterways in ways that respect and preserve the environment.
We run and maintain 'Tarporley' - a historic Northwich narrowboat, converted to carry 12 passengers. We mainly do day or evening trips but also longer ones as passengers & crew can sleep aboard. Volunteers help run the boat, crewing, supporting passengers, working locks, mooring, steering and maintaining the boat. Even if you have never been boating before, we will train you. All we ask is for you to commit for a reasonable period of time so it becomes worth our while training you.
We are also looking for Web and Media volunteers ( especially marketing or media students) to work with our Marketing Trustee who will not be required to work on the boat if they dint wish to .
Finally we are looking for any students who want to help us interface with the community .
