We run a soup kitchen and food bank twice a week, providing food for between 50-120 people per week. We cook a homemade vegetarian meal (either from veg we've grown ourselves, or donations), and provide a food parcel from our own food bank. We like to get to know our guests, and help where we can in other areas of their lives.
You'll be involved with prepping food, cooking, replenishing food bank stock, serving food, taking orders, washing up, and chatting to guests. If you're not a confident cook, there'll be someone else to guide you, and if you're worried about social distancing, you can stay with a back room role.
Full details of all the volunteering roles can be found at https://www.stjohnskitchen.org.uk/volunteering
We have a supportive network of fellow volunteers, who have plenty of experience and are always happy to help and answer any questions that you may have.
