200 Active Minutes Challenge

Celebrate UCL's bicentenary by getting active! Log 200 minutes of movement over 2 weeks from July 20 to August 3 to be a part of the celebration and win exciting prizes.

How the challenge works

The 200 Active Minutes Challenge invites all UCL students and staff to complete 200 minutes of physical activity over two weeks from 20 July to 3 August. By signing up and logging your hours, you are contributing to our overall target of reaching 200,000 active minutes.

It doesn't matter how often you exercise or what kind of movement you enjoy. This challenge is designed to be flexible and accessible to everyone. You could achieve your 200 minutes through Project Active classes, a daily walk, a gym session, a swim or anything in between - it all counts.

Simply sign up, get active in whatever way works for you, and log your minutes - it's that easy!

Please note, the 'log your minutes' page will not open until Monday 20 July.

3. Log minutes

Submit your minutes using the challenge log form after each activity

Activities to get involved in

Every step counts - whether thats a morning run, a gym session, or even walking to class. Any physical activity you do during the challenge window counts towards your 200 minutes.

Prizes

Everyone who completes the 200 Active Minutes Challenge will receive a digital certificate to mark the achievement as a small token of what is actually a brilliant effort.

Everyone who is signed up to the challenge and completes 200 active minutes will be entered into a prize draw to win a £50 Lifestyle Eat Gift Card.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as physical activity?
Any moderate-to-vigorous physical activity counts - gym sessions, cycling, running, walking, taking the stairs, swimming, dance, yoga, pilates, sport or any Project Active class. If it gets your heart rate up, it counts.
How do I log my minutes?
Once you sign up to the challenge, you will get access to the dashboard which allows you to log your minutes and the type of physical activity.
Who can take part?
The challenge is open to all currently enrolled UCL students and UCL staff. No experience or fitness level is required - this challenge is designed to be accessible to everyone.
Can I log minutes I completed before signing up?
No - only activity completed after your registeration date and within the challenge window (20 July - 3 August) will count towards your total.
Do I have to complete all 200 minutes in one go?
Not at all - you can spread your 200 minutes across the full two-week period in whatever way it suits you!
