Hi everyone! I would love to be your treasurer next year. Being on exchange this term has really highlighted to me how much of an important part of my life Jazz Society is, and I really want to continue to give back to our community and make the society an amazing place for others next year. Last term, my role on the Committee as choir manager and producing our Bloomsbury Theatre show ‘Jazz Reimagined’ gave me a real insight into the workings of the society and the Union, and I can use this experience next year to ensure things run smoothly. I believe I have proved myself to be a reliable and dedicated member of the society who can be depended upon to keep things organised. I may not do any maths in my degree, but I definitely have a lot of experience with spreadsheets and a willingness to learn! I would love to work closely with the next president to continue to make Jazz Society fun and inclusive and provide as many opportunities as possible to showcase the incredible talent among our members.

As a certified only child, I am well-versed in the art of capital acquisition from reluctant superiors and I have learned to navigate the fine line between being an initiative-taking, charismatic beneficiary and a dreadful pest-like scrounger; I believe this talent may prove to be useful if our society is in need of extra funding for essential (or non-essential ; )  ) operations.

Not to mention, since the age of 15 I have been working as a Junior Accountant in a reputable Cardiff-based accounting firm where I file tax returns for clients, perform in-depth bank analyses of financial statements, and have implemented  a faster data input system using Excel, significantly enhancing productivity across the team. Additionally, from April 2019 to June 2020, I was hired as a bookkeeper for a small contracting company in my local area. These experiences have trained me well in the processes required to effectively manage funding for those other than myself.

I believe that teamwork is of the utmost importance and is tantamount to, if not more important than, the skills of the individual. Thus, when working in a team I make sure that everybody’s voice is heard and try my absolute hardest to include all wanting parties in social/recreational gatherings.

In short, I believe that I could be a valuable asset to our society, in part due to my  “Qualifications and Charisma” ( –my Mother) and also due to my caring, passionate nature. I look forward to serving you.
