GENERAL INTEREST HISTORY SOCIETY AT UCL

The World History Society’s ambition is to

  • bring together students from all academic fields with a general interest in history, so as to form a vibrant community that
    • through casual interaction cultivates itself,
    • discovers the history of London on sight,
    • gets to meet UCL’s academics and their works on history,
    • exchanges favourite sources (books, articles, newspapers, podcasts, social media platforms),
    • and share writings in our journal.

In short, enjoys history not by rigid learning, but by experiencing it through personal interaction and with the help of fellow enthusiasts.

The World History Society wants to be a place for everyone who is fascinated by history, in this society a lack of knowledge is not a problem, this is the place to expand it.

Our programmes:

  • Visits to historical sights in London, such as monuments, historical buildings and areas, and museums with collections related to history at least twice a month.
  • Speaker events featuring academics, historians and intellectuals, to talk about their newest publications (let it be an article or a book) and thoughts.
  • Speaker events on British history
  • Write into the annual journal where amateur members can have a chance to publish their writings.
  • Socials where members are encouraged to debate each other on questions of history.
  • The society organises documentary screenings.
  • The society organises trips outside of London with the very aim to discover the history of the various destinations.
