UCL Snowsports Club is one of the biggest sports clubs in London, run by students, for students. We run two huge ski trips, with hundreds of us descending on the Alps at Christmas and Easter. We’re talking world-class acts, huge après, and slopes for every level of rider - these trips are not something you want to miss!

But we're not just ski trips - here in the UK we're a fully functioning sports club with weekly opportunities for all abilities, so come and take up something new this year, or develop your current skills! Whether it's flipping upside down in the park, tearing through a slalom course or learning to make your first snow plough turns, UCL Snowsports truly is the club for you (and if mountains aren't your thing, then come and join us in our second home - the bar!).

Memberships available in the 2024/25 academic year:

  • Full Competitive Package:

    This all-inclusive membership gives you full access to training sessions, socials, and all BUCS events, with every Kings single-day competition covered - perfect for Snowsport lovers.

  • Competitive Option 2 (2 BUCS Events):

    This membership includes access to all of our training sessions and socials, plus entry to both overnight BUCS competitions (BUDS in Gloucester and the Indoor Championships in Milton Keynes). You’ll also be able to take part in Kings competitions.

  • Competitive Option 1 (1 BUCS Events):

    This membership includes access to all of our training sessions and socials, plus entry to one overnight BUCS competition (either BUDS in Gloucester or the Indoor Championships in Milton Keynes). You’ll also be able to take part in Kings competitions.

  • Training:

    This membership gives you access to all of our training sessions, as well as our socials. You’ll also be able to take part in our single-day Kings competitions by purchasing a competition ticket separately.

  • Social:

    A social membership means you can attend our weekly socials and ad hoc events throughout the year and spectate at competitions such as Kings and AJAM (giving you access to the all-important after-party)! This membership will also give you access to our members’ ticket release for our ski trips.

  • Trip:

    If you are coming on one of our ski trips, you will need to get this free membership if you are not already a paid club member. You will not gain access to the members’ ticket release with trip membership. For this, you must purchase a social membership or above!

  • Taster:

    This membership is required if you are attending one of our taster sessions, so you are covered by SU insurance.

Ski Trip: 

  • This year, we are taking you to LES DEUX ALPES!
  • Tickets drop on 30th September! In the past, they have sold out on the day, so mark your calendars - you don’t want to miss it. All you need to do to confirm your place is pay a £150 deposit.
  • If you have a social membership for the club, you can access an EARLY BIRD ticket drop.
  • Ahead of the launch, we recommend you create an account with our travel provider, NUCO, so you can book on as quickly as possible on the day.
  • Keep an eye out for info on our Easter trip in the coming months 

 Competitions: 

  • We compete at a regional and national level in ski racing, snowboard racing, and freestyle (both ski and board).
  • This year, we will be competing at BUDS in Gloucester and the UK Indoor Championships in Milton Keynes. We also offer non-BUCS competitions through our local regional dry slope league, KINGS, which has themed fancy-dress competitions on Saturdays throughout the year with a very relaxed vibe.
  • We also compete at AJAM during term 2. Even if you're not into freestyle, AJAM is an absolute blast; with relaxed racing, DJs, and the after-party of the year – it’s not one to miss!
  • Finally, we’ll also be hosting our Unofficial London Varsity Snowsports Competition against KCL (King’s College London) in Term 2. 

 Trainings: 

  • Race training for skiiers and boarders takes place every Thursday night at Gosling Dry Slope. We meet outside Bloomsbury Theatre at 5pm before heading to King's Cross to catch the train. We are usually back for 10.30pm for a quick trip to the pub. All you need to do is sign up on the training group chat and buy your train ticket – we cover the rest!
  • Before each competition, Snowboard racers can also attend a special training session at Brentwood Dry Slope where they have specialised coaches!
  • Freestyle Training takes place every Thursday night at Milton Keynes Snowdome. We meet outside Bloomsbury Theatre at 4:15pm before heading to Euston to catch the train. We are usually back for 11pm for a quick trip to the pub with the racers. All you need to do is sign up on the training group chat and buy your train ticket – we cover the rest!

 Socials: 

  • Most weeks, you can catch us in Phineas before heading to Scala with the rest of TeamUCL for Sports Night! If you have a paid membership, you'll get access to £3 tickets!
  • Our social calendar is also filled with curry nights, bar crawls, fancy dress events, charity socials, and intersociety competitions. In addition, we’re planning our biggest formal year yet with TWO black tie events so we can get dressed up to the nines and dance the night away!
  • Here in Snowsports, we consider ourselves one big family, and everyone in the club gets given parents and siblings at the beginning of the year. This will give you both someone to talk to if you need anything, as well as setting us up for friendly family rivalry and competition.
  • We also have lots of non-alcohol-related events planned for the upcoming year, including ice skating, climbing, and quizzes.

 Beginners:

  • Never clipped into skis or a board? Don’t worry – we haven’t forgotten about you! This year, one of our main initiatives is to get more and more people into Snowsports.
  • Our first beginner ski sessions will be on the 25th November and 2nd December. Find out more on the SU What's On page! You do not need a membership to attend a beginner session.
