Welcome to UCL Political Risk & Intelligence Society! The society is returning for the 2026/2027 academic year with a fresh start, and we are looking for new members. No prior experience needed!
OUR MISSION:
Throughout the academic year, we seek to introduce the student body to career paths within the risk, intelligence, and analysis industries. We hope to give our members a good mix of career events, skills sessions, networking opportunities, and a stimulating and welcoming environment to discuss current affairs.
How do we do this?
Our flagship events will include panel discussions, skills workshops, speaker invitations, and more. Additionally, we have our Risk & Intelligence Competition planned for early in 2027.
Interested in more regular exposure to political risk and intelligence? We welcome you to join us in our monthly Risk Analysis Challenge. Or, if you prefer a more relaxed environment to discuss modern geopolitics and current affairs, come along to our weekly Snacks & Politics session.
Ready to meet the wider student intelligence circle beyond UCL? We host networking socials that give students a chance to connect with like-minded individuals from political risk/intelligence societies and student-led political risk consultancies across London!
ABOUT YOU: Not a politics student? No problem.
We welcome students from a number of different disciplines. Past members have studied a range of course, including: economics, law, political science, anthropology, natural sciences, crime sciences, development studies, and region-specific studies. Feel free to drop us email or DM if you’re unsure how degree connects to the industry. We would love to help you think through potential pathways. And of course, it goes without saying that POSTGRADS are welcome here!
THE BOTTOMLINE: Why should you join?
Our primary objective is to help students acquaint themselves with the various paths into the industry so that we can make informed decisions about our future. Starting out after college can be challenging for the best of us, especially when one wants to break into a niche, relatively elusive industry like political risk and intelligence — so we’re here to help :)

Ready to commit to UCL PRIS? Our Standard Membership allows you to write for our publication and attend a range of in-person events which would include panel discussions, guest lectures, and socials free of cost.
