Thank you to everyone who has given their time to help Project Active grow, and develop over the last year!

To our Project Activators, event volunteers, photographers, which range from student and staff, we would like to say a big thank you! Hear from our Project Activators...

Adil Patel (Project Activator: Running)

Adil is part of the Running, Athletics and Cross-Country Club (RAX) and despite not being a committee member or captain, Adil leads several runs for Project Active which includes the weekly Project Active social run and Project Active postgraduate run.

“I’ve been leading these sessions since 2021 and looked forward to each of them. I met a lot of different people throughout the years, and it’s been amazing to see their progress. Some started in my sessions as absolute beginners, and now run half marathons in their own time.” Adil Patel

Adil has been involved in running events for campaigns (Mental Health Awareness Week) and during the build-up of our UCL 5km Run and UCL Campus Run this year! At TeamUCL Sports Awards Adil was presented an honorary life membership for his dedication and commitment to promote running and make this inclusive to all!

Gideon Chan (Project Activator: Social League Football)

I was initially motivated to become a project activator due to the unique identity Project Active gives to our community - one of friendship, inclusivity, and diversity. To me, the football social league presents a fantastic opportunity to showcase teamwork and bonding, as something that everyone can take part in.

My first advice to someone looking to become a project activator is don't be shy!Nothing feels better than after throwing yourself outside your comfort zone, trying new things and speaking to new people. You don't need to be the most sociable or the coolest person, but being willing to personally engage yourself with the community is the first step to encourage others to do the same!

How to volunteer in Project Active?

There are many opportunities and ways to volunteer in Project Active, one of these ways is to become a Project Activator.

During this summer the team are taking feedback and looking at how to make this initiative even better. Stay tuned to find out more about becoming a Project Activator soon!
