“Being a Project Leader…it’s like being able to make your own small pocket of change”

Being a Project Leader for one of our Student-Led Projects is a great opportunity to gain new skills, and make a change in the local community. All projects have different timelines when delivering activities so this is something to bear in mind.

Our Project Leaders have led such diverse projects including supporting people affected by homelessness to create art and photography, delivering personal development workshops to students, running workshops for children in hospital and much more!

Being a Project Leader will support you to develop your project management and leadership skills. As a Project Leader, you will work as part of a team and be in charge of managing the Student-Led Project, including developing a project plan, completing a risk assessment, recruiting and managing the volunteers and liaising with both the organisation and the Volunteering Service. The planning and delivery of the project will be conducted in partnership with a community organisation or school, and there will be opportunities for you to be involved in decision-making.

All Project Leaders will be supported through the Volunteering Service's Student-Led Volunteering Programme and will have the support of a dedicated Project Supervisor, receive project leadership training as well as access to up to £500 worth of funding.
