Ben Carr

Hi, I’m Ben and I’m running for the position of equipment officer for the 2024/25 academic year.

I’ve had the opportunity to help out on a range of shows this year and have loved the sense of community Stage Crew provides, and I'm running for this role to be able to give back to the society by helping manage it’s equipment. In particular, I would be eager to introduce some form of inventory management system to streamline the running of external shows and ensure it’s easy for crews to access what they need.

In terms of past experience, I work as a volunteer on the admin staff of a legal charity in my spare time, and therefore have some level of organisational and teamwork skills that would be valuable in a role such as equipment officer that involves cooperating with committee positions such as the treasurer and externals officer. Beyond this, I have also taken part in a range of externals within Stage Crew as well as some local community theatre projects, and this demonstrates both knowledge of Stage Crew’s kit and a wider view of kit that could be brought in to the society as part of the Equipment Officer role.

Thank you for reading, once again I am grateful for considering my candidacy and think I would be a valuable asset to the society’s committee.

Sara Romai

Hi, I’m Sara, I am a first-year Politics and Sociology student and I’ve really enjoyed being the Fresher’s rep on the Stage Crew committee this year! Throughout the year I have been part of three shows in the Blooms, as an ASM on An Ideal Husband and the Producers and as co-prod manager on the K-Pop Showcase and have gotten to help out with a couple externals. In being part of these shows and being on the committee I have become more familiar with Stage Crew’s equipment throughout the year. While I am aware that I still have a lot to learn, I am confident that I will be able to adapt to the role of Equipment officer and gain the necessary knowledge in communicating with the rest of the committee and reaching out to this year’s Equipment Officer prior before taking on the position.

Hannah Stanley

I love Stage Crew and want to be involved in keeping the amazing society running. Also, I love spreadsheets.

Lewis Murphy

Hi, I'm Lewis. I study Light & Lighting, and have been part of Stage Crew for three years now. I've always been passionate about our equipment, whether that's buying, repairing or transporting it, so I think I'd be the right person to look after it next year.

My plans

  • Run training sessions over the summer for those who want to lead on externals/small shows
  • Clearly organise and label the flight cases in collaboration with the Externals Officers
  • Work with the Union and the other societies that use the Range to find extra space outside of our cage
  • Minimum stock levels for consumables (tape, batteries)
  • Protect our TW1s and colour scrollers from the Scrooges that want to sell them

My experience

  • President 2022-23
  • Lighting Designer for several productions
  • Purchased much of equipment in our current inventory
  • Placed and oversaw thousands of pounds of equipment hires
  • Worked full time for a month in the Bloomsbury Theatre to maintain their equipment
