James Mao

Last year I helped to organise and lead two events with the highest turn out rate, which is DCF workshop along with MCD Capital and Woman in Finance Panel with MDs from SocGen and Blackrock. I am eager to dedicate myself to developing even more impactful content and events in the coming year. Having received offers in both Spring and Summer application cycles, I am able to provide thorough insights for the members to navigate in early career.

My ambition is to expand our offerings to include more technical workshops and in-depth, interactive panels with correct questions asked. Hope Guild Academy could empower our community members to confidently navigate their career paths, armed with knowledge and insight.

Yiven (Louis) Zhu

Dear UCL Guild Members,

I am Yiven (Louis) Zhu, actively engaged in our university's vibrant community with a track record of leadership and event management. As a candidate for VP of the Guild Academy, I am dedicated to enhancing our collective experience through strategic innovation and inclusive event planning. Here’s my vision for us:

Vision and Objectives:

  1. Expanding our event scope to include more diverse industries beyond traditional fields like finance and consulting, such as technology and entrepreneurship, will broaden the professional horizons of all members.
  2. Implement targeted marketing strategies to boost event attendance and ensure that each gathering offers significant value and engagement opportunities.
  3. Promote a culture of active participation and collaboration, empowering every team member to contribute meaningfully to our success.

My professional experiences at PwC, PIMCO, and Moody’s have equipped me with a robust understanding of financial stewardship and strategic management. These experiences are critical for overseeing our managerial and financial strategies and ensuring the Guild Academy's activities are both sustainable and expansive.

My academic pursuits in Economics, Finance, and the Politics of Science and Technology complement my hands-on experiences, providing a solid foundation for leading our society towards a future where academic and professional development are synchronised.

I am committed to leveraging my experiences to enhance our society’s resilience and scope.
