I’m hoping to be your Media Officer next year as I believe it’s a great opportunity to represent our community, welcome new members, and celebrate the achievements of all of our squads.
Having, somewhat, learned to row over the last three years at UCLBC, and been your treasurer this past year, I’m passionate about the positive role joining rowing can have on the university experience, and well-acquainted with the intricacies of the club. With experience running social media accounts at UCL, and publishing my school’s yearbook and newspaper, I’m well-equipped with the required writing, design, and organisational skillsets. If nothing else, I'm passionate about the joys of Photoshop half-tone effects, and promise to bring them to an explore page near you.
If elected, I’m keen to re-focus our communications around outreach, both with alumni and potential recruits. As a sport, rowing can be somewhat intimidating, particularly for freshers, and I’m keen to make the club as welcoming and accessible as possible, with a renewed focus on informational posts and unvarnished videos. Despite wider preconceptions about the nature of our sport, I’ve always found the Boat Club to be an exciting and inclusive community, full of amazing activity. I believe serving as your Media Officer to be the perfect chance to pass that message forward, and continue to grow the sport of rowing at UCL.
