Academically, I wish to make improvements so that everyone can have a fun time when learning.  I hope to promote the communication between lecturers and students.

Socially, I hope to coordinate with my colleagues to bring some fun events into faculty.  I hope to present the academic interests of students and, based on those interests, provide educational workshops on a faculty level.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

You should vote for me because I’m passionate about improving our experience at UCL. I’ll listen to your concerns, push for real changes, and make sure our voices are heard. I want to represent all of us, from better facilities to ensuring we have more support and opportunities to succeed.

Evelina Skorikova
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Let's imagine: as a postgraduate student who is trying to become a facility representative, anybody would expect that I probably had an impressive past: probably being a president of the class, or a leader in a student council, or an alien who had 15 volunteering experiences/ 20 internships / and possibly organised 5 large student events at the Trafalgar Square. Truth be told - I, unfortunately, am none of that. However, I'm here to bring to the table something new. I had my fair share in managing projects, groups, tutoring students and most importantly - giving my honest feedback to the teaching department. I'm not scared of social anxiety - social anxiety is scared of me. Therefore, I'm here to listen to you and speak up when needed, as I know how hard can it be. I have almost 3+ years of talking to managers, stakeholders and clients, additionally, I worked in a customer service industry for a whole year, and, oh yes, I know what it is like to find best solutions for the worst (and best) situations, and, please, be sure, I can find an approach in any situation.

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

My goal is simple - I want everybody follow 3 things: 1. Forget about stress; 2. Get out of comfort zone; 3. Be heard. Third point, I mean it - being actually heard. You want to have a more job/client fairs? Want to make it more accessible (location, space, time and etc.)? You want your engineering facility collaborate with your favourite sneaker brand? At least we will try! I'm not a magician, but I'm really good at compromising and finding solutions. I want students to forget about minor stress-factors, and focus on their studies, friends and interests - in short, life!

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

It's very simple: I'm here to represent you all. And bear in mind - I'm not the smartest, overachieving genius with an experience of a senior, I am really just the same student as you, who just arrived to a new environment and wants to make the best of it. I know deeply how it feels to be in your shoes, and I want you to be able to graduate with a thought - "oh wow, that was an amazing year". I won't be performing any magic, but I'll listen, talk with you as a fellow peer and do my best in getting things done.

The dep. spans 11 sub-dep., 89 courses & 6000+ students from 50+ countries across eng. & mgmt disciplines. With different career stages, needs & financial liabilities, a 1-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. Some wish to pursue research while others need hard skills or job opportunities.

My experience & energy gives me the maturity to connect with professors & warmth to engage with you. My 5-point manifesto addresses our diverse needs. Having overcome personal challenges like stammering, I understand personal growth struggles & will advocate for you especially if you're not in the room.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Having been in 4 different British universities and spent over 7 years in the UK, I am quite familiar with the "ins and outs" of navigating bureaucracy in academia and life in UK. As such, I am aware of the things that need improvement for student life and can provide insightful advice to any student looking for representation!

What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
  • reducing walking distances between lectures or tutorials
  • less weight of exam marks by increasing coursework weights to a minimum of 30% per module
  • allowing approved SoRA extra times also in assessments that are less than 1 hour
  • no shame in asking for Alternative Assessments: standardising available options so that module leads can be persuaded more easily to allow such requests
  • introducing courses on AI Foundation Models across programmes in the Faculty to aid multi-disciplinary research
  • allowing students to take extra modules for credits which some Engineering departments currently do not allow
Please summarise why students should vote for you.

Because I have a set of actionable points and a plan and not just abstract vague words. It proves I'm committed to the mission.
