What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Build a storng community in John Dodgson, that after we move out we will still meet up sometimes

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

Activitiy planning + house parties, I am trying to get as many people as possible. Also I would love to get a pool table and football table in the common room.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am kind, friendly, helpful and energetic.

Maria Toigonbaeva
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

I hope to improve overall safety within John Dodgson. This means improving students' awareness. For example, entering the accommodation at night, doing their checks of stove and oven switches, keeping the kitchen closed (as it is a fire door), and regularly ensuring washing machines are in good condition. These are some of the things that can be elevated, through help of Hall Community Officers. As we are all busy, it is easy to forget and we are all human. I will work with others in a tight-knitted team to aid safety and welfare.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I have previously worked within education (assistance) and the service sector (packaging). Hence, this contributes greatly to my value of community. Working in a fast environment and handling stock, I have had my fair share of stress, so I know how to deal with tough problems when they come. Maintaining the hall's communication systems is important to me and students' wellbeing are of my concern. I look forward to help in social events, maximising fun and safety,  as well as being an approachable person to ask about any struggles at the hall.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I would be delighted to aid the Hall reps, and be a bigger part of the welfare community. By investing in halls and dedicating time to students and the management team,  I would be able to improve the overall quality of time spent at John Dodgson. I also aim to introduce a bigger pamphlet (and introduction) to John Dodgson for this year's and upcoming students, on all potential safety hazards (including ones I noticed) and essential tips.

Shariya Anwar (she/they)
What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?

Firstly, I would like to tend to any concerns that the residents currently have and any that may arise during my time here at John Dodgson House, working alongside the Student Residence Advisors and the Hall Team to see how the problems can be solved to make everyone’s experience here a better one. Moreover, I would like to host events that would amplify our sense of community and serve as an opportunity for everyone to let their hair down and have some fun! Some of the ideas I have include parties associated with festive events (e.g. Halloween and Christmas) and socials such as movie nights.

What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?

I believe I have quite a few qualities that may come in handy for building upon the community at JDH. One of them is that I have a passion for photography and so if there are any events that are being hosted, I can take photos for the people who attend whilst also using these to decorate the common room (with prior consent). I’ve also had previous experience managing social media accounts where I’ve had to work one-on-one with individuals to turn their concepts and ideas into tangible outcomes on a weekly basis which would come in handy when problem solving with residents and the Hall Team.

Please summarise why students should vote for you.

I am an approachable person who is ready to help solve any queries and problems upheld by residents whilst also being very keen to host events and socials for the hall which I am sure would be a delight to attend by everyone! In the past, I’ve hosted several parties and social events that were enjoyed by the people who attended, and also have experience with hosting larger scale events. Aside from that, I am an organized person who gets the work done while being a team-player who looks forward to tackling any issues faced in the hall together with the residents and Hall Team.
