Olivia Kao

Hi everyone! My name is Olivia and I am running to be UNA's social secretary. As a current first year representative, I have had the pleasure of getting to know all of y'all this past year. Next year will be my second year participating in the MUN circuit, and I wish to continue being a member of this society and having the opportunity to actively engage with our MUN family. I am excited at the prospect of being your social sec and promise to make all our social media fun and engaging for current and future members to get information from. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me through insta or DM me!

Tanmaye Shagotra

Hi, I’m Tanmaye Shagotra, and I’m asking for your vote to serve as your Social Secretary for the UCL United Nations Association.

For me, UCLUNA is more than just a society for debate and diplomacy — it should also be a community where members build genuine friendships, feel welcomed from their very first event, and enjoy being part of something beyond committee sessions and conferences. I understand how important a strong social culture is in making members feel engaged, confident, and connected.

As your Social Secretary, I will:

  • Create a stronger sense of community: Organise fun, inclusive socials that help members get to know one another beyond formal debate settings.
  • Make UCLUNA more welcoming: Plan freshers-friendly and low-pressure events so new members can settle in easily, and get more freshers involved at the next Welcome Fest.
  • Build variety in socials: From post-session meetups and themed socials to collaborative events with other societies, I want to make sure there is something for everyone.
  • Strengthen connections across other societies: Create opportunities for members through joined sessions/socials with other societies at UCL.
  • Support the wider committee: Work closely with the President and committee to ensure our social calendar complements the society’s wider vision and keeps members engaged throughout the year.
