I’m applying for Sports Officer for Telugu Society because sport has always been a huge part of my life, and I’d love to use it as a way to strengthen our community. Having played county cricket, I’ve experienced firsthand how sport builds discipline, teamwork and lasting friendships. Beyond playing, I’ve always loved watching sport too, especially cricket, and I understand how deeply sport is embedded in Telugu and wider Indian culture. Whether it’s the excitement around IPL season or everyone coming together to watch a big international match, sport has this incredible ability to unite people across backgrounds and generations.

Within Telugu Society, I think sport is such a powerful way to bring members closer together outside of formal events. I’d love to organise both competitive tournaments and more casual, inclusive activities so that everyone feels comfortable getting involved, regardless of ability. It’s not just about winning matches; it’s about creating shared experiences, strengthening bonds and building that sense of pride and unity within our society. As someone who has really valued being part of Telugu Society, I’d be excited to contribute in a way that keeps people engaged, active and connected throughout the year.

Nischal Valluru

Hi I'm Nischal, and I'm standing to be your Head of Sports.

I'll make sure to organise more sports events than ever! This year was a bit slow, but I have some more ideas and hopefully we can get them out there and done!

Yours truly,

Nischal
