I am standing to be a Teaching Officer because I want to create a more structured and progressive learning pathway within the society. Rather than relying solely on isolated workshops, I would aim to design sessions that build in difficulty across a term, allowing members to develop meaningful and transferable robotics skills over time. For example, this could include a term-long ROS 2 lecture series. It would begin with setup and installation and progress towards building a simulated autonomous system by the end of term. To further consolidate what has been learned in the term, competitions could be held at the end of the series, encouraging members to apply the tools and techniques they have studied and bridge the gap between theory and practice. Alongside structured series, I would continue supporting stand-alone practical workshops, akin to the line-following competition conducted this academic year, ensuring members gain hands-on experience even if they cannot commit to a full-term programme. My end goal as a Teaching Officer is to expose members to real robotics technologies while preparing them with the skills and confidence to contribute to competitions and their own independent projects. Overall, I am confident that I can help strengthen UCL Robotics Society by enabling committed members to build genuine, long lasting technical capability.
