I want to be President of UCL Calisthenics because I have seen first-hand what makes this club special. What stood out to me from the start was how welcoming it is. People join at very different levels, from complete beginners to advanced athletes, and there is a genuine culture of support, progress, and community.
Through attending sessions, I have seen the impact the club can have on people’s confidence and development. I have also had the chance to contribute directly by helping beginners during Wednesday sessions, guiding them through skills step by step and making advanced movements feel more approachable. Seeing people improve with the right support has been one of the most rewarding parts of being involved.
If elected, I would focus on three things. First, I want to strengthen the beginner experience by creating simple training guides for each skill level, tailored to the gym spaces we use, with clear exercise explanations and progressions. Second, I want to make progression more visible through skill-focused sessions and occasional progress check-ins, giving members clear milestones to work towards. Third, I want to keep building the club’s community by organising more easy-to-run socials, such as post-training food trips, Sports Night meetups, or an end-of-term park hangout.
I care about this club, I have already invested in helping others within it, and I would be proud to help it grow further while preserving the welcoming culture that makes it special.
I am standing for President of the UCL Calisthenics Club to help the club grow without losing what makes it welcoming. I want training to feel welcoming and friendly for beginners while still challenging for experienced members. I also want the club to feel like a community rather than just a workout. That means regular socials that are easy to join and simple ways for new members to meet others. I will keep feedback flowing through the year and act on it quickly. If elected, my focus is to make sessions run smoothly and to leave the club stronger at the end of the year than it was at the start!
