The Yoga and Meditation Society was the first society I joined during Freshers' Week and quickly became a part of my university experience. Having practised yoga since 15, returning to this familiar grounding practice brought immense comfort, with weekly sessions fostering a sense of belonging, and connecting me with like-minded individuals. Yoga has always been essential to my well-being and the opportunity to contribute to this space is deeply meaningful to me.
In addition to my passion for yoga, my previous experience makes me well-suited for the role of Project Manager As an Events Prefect in sixth form, I was responsible for coordinating/executing various events, including a large-scale winter ball that brought together students from multiple schools. This experience equipped me with skills in event planning and logistics. While the process presented inevitable challenges, the event's success reinforced my ability to navigate obstacles with adaptability and perseverance.
I look forward to applying these skills to support the Yoga and Meditation Society, coordinating events that enhance well-being and strengthen its community. As project manager of the Yoga and Meditation Society, my ideas include weekly socials to a café, pub or picnic, and termly dinners/balls. I’d also love to introduce custom-designed yoga activewear to be able to wear to class and organise group outings to unique events, like yoga sessions at the Natural History Museum and puppy yoga classes.

This yoga society isn’t just about practicing yoga for me, it’s about the amazing like-minded people I meet and the strong sense of community it creates. I would love to be project manager to primarily maintain the society's warm and welcoming space; and my goal is to also build projects that focus on creating a positive impact on the members of the society while ensuring they have fun. I love trying new things and I want to bring this mindset along with creativity and organization to ensure every event is both engaging and well-executed.
I'm so excited to use my passion for yoga to hopefully introduce new opportunities, ranging from expert-led workshops, innovative wellness initiatives, and even experiences outside of uni. Plus, I find so much joy in organizing events that both inspire growth and make people smile, and i hope to achieve that by enabling members to discover a new yoga style, find a moment of calm, or simply make new friends. I truly believe that yoga is a practice that everyone should have the opportunity to try and enjoy, so I want develop events that are inclusive and accessible to all needs, genders and levels of experience.
This role would be a great way for me to give back to the society in a meaningful way by bringing enthusiastic energy and fresh ideas, leading it to grow into an even more vibrant and connected community !!

Hi! I'm Dilmeet, and I'm running for Project Manager for Yoga and Meditation Society. Why should you vote for me?
Ideas! Thanks to our amazing committee, we have a multitude of events like dinner socials, herbal tea gatherings, socials with yoga families, and much more. I want to not only continue with running these with our committee but also add more activities to our line-up! Incorporating visits, organising mini-retreats, outdoor yoga, relaxed activities, journalling/self-reflection circle sessions, and more socials/gatherings, cultivating a close-knit community where we explore new things and places together!
Experience: I am a proactive individual with strong leadership and event planning skills, suitable for Project Manager. I've managed large-scale events, and led meaningful projects, like:
- Launching a Financial Education Campaign with a charity to improve financial literacy.
- As a Wildhearts' Global Youth Ambassador, leading an initiative supporting 1000+ students during COVID lockdowns.
- Creating the Student Enrichment Initiative, independently delivering 200+ opportunities over 14 months, to help young people access higher-level job prospects, all for free.
Being part of the society for 2 years now, I'm eager to contribute and work on running events for our lovely community. I love yoga, and as Project Manager, can work to foster a warm, inviting community together. If you'd enjoy this, then vote me, Dilmeet, for Project Manager x
