Women belong at every table in finance, not as exceptions, but as leaders. Breaking into a male-dominated industry comes with challenges, but the right networks, mentorship, and opportunities can make all the difference.
As First-Year Rep for the society, I contributed to Share the Vision 2025, helping bring industry leaders directly to students. As Head of Events at UCL ESG Society, I secured top speakers from JPMorgan, BlackRock, and Fidelity and built industry partnerships that delivered record-breaking engagement. Now, I want to bring that same ambition and impact to WinF, making our events more than just networking opportunities.
My Vision for 2024/25:
- Expanding industry exposure via exclusive office visits and in-person networking events with top firms.
- Cross-institutional collabs with LSE, Imperial, KCL, and more to expand our reach.
- Earlier internship panels for Spring and Summer internships to give members a competitive edge.
- Interactive, high-impact events beyond panels with debates, case study workshops, and hands-on finance simulations.
- Career & skills development via introducing more CV workshops, technical skills training, and interview prep sessions to help members secure top roles.
Women in Finance has the platform, the community, and the ambition, and as Head of Events, I will ensure that every event not only educates and connects but actively opens doors for women.

Hi everyone! My name is Sabrina Hart, and in the 2025/2026 academic year, I will be a third year in the classics program. I joined the Women in Finance Society my first year, and know how essential it is to have a community of women supporting each other in the finance world. As Head of Events, I plan to expand our range and frequency of events and opportunities. To do this, I will focus on three types of events: workshops, speaker events, and collaborations with other universities.
To give members hands-on experience, I will organise workshops to practise skills needed for specific careers. This will include workshops on deal negotiation, valuation, and market research. These will be repeated and built upon throughout the year, helping members gain valuable skills no matter when they join our society.
For speaker events, I will focus on UCL’s alumnae network. As a society focusing on bringing women into finance, I feel it is essential to learn from these amazing women. I will invite a range of speakers, giving members the best opportunities to hear from these women.
Finally, I will collaborate with similar societies at other universities, combining resources to expand the scope of possible events. This will include larger-scale versions of the events listed above, as well as conferences with stock pitch competitions, simulated M & A practice, and in-depth networking. I look forward to giving all our members a range of resources next year, and cannot wait to meet you all!

I am standing for WinF Head of Events as I believe my creativity, strategic planning and sociable personality mean that my skillset is right for this role. Previous experiences of arranging cultural events during my time at Sixth Form mean that I am already aware of how much preparation goes into making even a 3 hour event run smoothly. Despite the improvements, women are still heavily underrepresented in the financial world (as we all aware of), so this role would mean a lot to me because of the opportunity to arrange events that make a difference to career paths that our female students undertake. This would also be a wonderful opportunity to connect students with similar aspirations, and help build not only my network, but the network of other potential investment bankers and analysts at UCL.
My main focus would be to arrange bi-weekly skills workshops such as "How to create the perfect elevator pitch" that work to improve both the hard and soft skills required to work in Finance, as well as continue to arrange finance conferences with industry professionals to help strengthen members' personal networks. Speed networking/mentoring events and peer to peer mock interviews would be other additions I would bring to WinF's range of events and schemes.
The co-ordination required to arrange engaging events is not easy, but I am confident I can take on this role to help cultivate strong connections while bringing events to WinF that will be invaluable to our development.
