Hi everyone, my name is Vivek, and I’m excited to be running for President of the UCL Telugu Society!
I’m a first-year PPE student from Maidenhead, born in Hyderabad, and I’ve been fortunate to grow up speaking Telugu fluently. As a passionate fan of Telugu cinema, music, and culture, I know how powerful it is to have a space where people can meet others from similar backgrounds, especially those who want to get more involved in their own culture!
As President, my goal is transformation and revival! I am to turn the Telugu Society into a vibrant, dynamic community that truly reflects the size and spirit of our Telugu student body. From my year alone, I’ve seen just how Telugu students are spread across UCL — and there’s a clear demand for a society that unites us while celebrating what makes us Telugu, something which I am confident I can deliver.
A key priority will be delivering social events that connect students across all years, whether they speak Telugu or not. I’ll also strengthen collaboration with other university Telugu societies, giving our members greater opportunities to meet new people and create memories.
My previous experience as Head Boy and leader of three school societies means I have the leadership and teamwork skills needed to collaborate effectively with a committee and that organising and leading a group of reps isn't a new challenge.
I would be honoured to have your support and look forward to working together to build a thriving Telugu Society at UCL.

Hey yedavas and picchi mohalu, voting for me for president of TelSoc would be the right decision to make and I’ll explain why. The Telugu community at UCL is a lot bigger than people think but the society is still a chinna pilla in the grand scheme of things, and I believe that with the skills I possess and will inevitably continue to gain, I can get the society on the right track to realising its potential. With me, creative and regular events will be a given because that's what our community deserves, and everyone can guarantee themselves that miru baga tintaru because I’m cooking biryani and bringing it to every session. If you hear that and decide not to come and be a part of TelSoc then I’m betting house money that you’re a donga naa kodaka and a coconut, but I know that you’re all very cultured and will definitely decide to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity. I’m also a man of the prajalu, so I’ll always be a bridge between the members and the committee to make sure everyone’s views are heard and that the TelSoc experience can be fully enjoyed. We already have a strong sense of community and next year I believe I can piece it all together with the committee and create something special. Vibes adhiri pothayi. My commitment and dedication to the cause are unmatched, and I’m not missing the opportunity to help TelSoc grow and expand our community of yedavas. Ultimately, I see TelSoc as a second home and I believe that everyone deserves to see it the same way.

My name is Anjali, and I am running for Telugu Soc President! I am a first year Economics student who would love to unite the Telugu community at UCL. Having a strong Telugu network just before I joined university, I would love to maintain this spirit during my university experience. If elected, I promise to arrange a wide range of regular events.
The first would be to hold Telugu formals alongside other London university Telugu Socs (such as for Ugadi and Sankranti), as well as frequent themed social events such as Kabaddi competitions, movie nights, potlucks, dance workshops and more!. Collaborating with the other UCL cultural societies (such as Tamil or Mallu Soc) would better integrate our society into the UCL environment. I believe that creating an inclusive enviroment is important, so I would like to hold language/ cultural workshops for those who may not be fluent in Telugu and wish to learn more to connect with their background.
Personal development is key for many of our Telugu students so alongside social events, so I will arrange professional skills workshops. This will be accompanied by a Mentor system where members are matched with a buddy upon joining the society, to foster a greater sense of community.
With experience of leading successful cultural events in sixth form and helping out in the community, I believe that I can bring together Telugu students and make a space for them to appreciate their culture. I wish to actively listen to any requests for events and make them happen!
