As someone who is deeply passionate about Tamil language and culture, I am committed to representing and celebrating our rich traditions in a way that is engaging, inclusive and impactful. My experience working closely with the London Tamil Sangam to promote Tamil language and heritage has given me valuable insights into cultural advocacy. I have actively participated in organising Tamil events like Pongal with my local council, bringing together not just the Tamil community but people from diverse backgrounds to experience and appreciate our traditions.
Beyond event organising, I have also published works and analyses on Tamil literature for Tamil school textbooks and currently serve as a `Respect literature' writer for a student-led Tamil magazine. This role has strengthened my ability to communicate the beauty of Tamil culture in an insightful and meaningful way.
If elected as your Cultural Representative, I will ensure that learning about Tamil culture and language is not only accessible but also fun and engaging! Through interactive workshops, creative activities and community-driven events, I aim to showcase Tamil heritage in a way that inspires curiosity and appreciation. This is more than just a role for me: It is a mission to make Tamil culture an integral and celebrated part of our community!
Vote for me and together, let’s bring Tamil culture to life!

About me:
Hello, I am Sanchithaa, currently in my 3rd/4yr of my Mathematics course. Since, I am going into my final year, I thought taking up a Tamil society committee role will be a lot of fun as it is something I have always wanted to do since I enrolled myself at UCL.
Why cultural rep?
As a person who has grown up indulged in the Tamil culture, I have a lot of admiration for our culture. Having the privilege of being able go to Tamil school has yielded to my fluency in the language and enabled me to experience & appreciate the huge sense of community that the culture brings. Additionally, watching Tamil Cinema and Tamil Tv shows throughout my life has allowed me to be deeply intertwined with the Tamil language and culture. These are some of the reasons that drive my passion of showcasing our culture.
What I would do as a cultural rep?
For the Tamil society, I would like to bring a comfortable space so that UCL Tamil students are able to learn about our culture in more depth. This includes holding regular Tamil classes from the beginning of the year; celebrating the Tamil festivals such as Thai Pongal, Puthaandu, Deepavali etc; running educational lessons about our roots on a regular basis which would open up a curiosity in university students to learn more about our culture.
I hope that my reasonings and my aims through becoming cultural rep has become clear through this manifesto, and please do vote for me if you would like to see me as cultural rep next year!

I would like to stand as the Cultural Rep for Tamil Society as I am eager to actively contribute to and celebrate Tamil culture within our university. I am passionate about embracing, and sharing Tamil traditions, from our festivals, art, cuisine to our language. I want to offer a fresh perspective and bring my enthusiasm to help gather new ideas to the society, promoting our heritage across the university. I have previously organized cultural events within my school to raise importance of culture in a fun, engaging and inclusive manner. Similarly, I would like to implement this into our societies by introducing a range of workshops on traditional Tamil arts. I would like to educate and raise awareness of the atrocities committed to Tamils, as this interests me a lot, and being cultural rep is a channel I can do this through. Additionally, I would like to strengthen our shared identity and create lasting memories for everyone involved in the Tamil Society. I have always been interested in the complex nature of our language, heritage and ancient beliefs and would like to share such knowledge by being cultural rep, ensuring that other Tamil students also become grounded to their roots. Likewise, I believe my interests in creating a social community influence my desire to become a cultural rep.
