Taekwondo has been a huge part of my life for the past 10 years and joining UCL Taekwondo has deepened my love for the sport. I’ve already built strong friendships in my first year and found a genuine community so I’m excited to run for president and help develop such a welcoming environment!
As head girl at school, I developed leadership skills, managed communications between students and staff and helped organise large-scale events - all of which prepared me to lead a team and handle the responsibilities of running a society. Plus, my organised Notion setup reflects strong attention to detail and planning which will ensure efficient club operations (it could probably run the club on its own).
My involvement in the club shows my dedication with near-perfect attendance and strong relationships with members/ coaches. Teaching sessions at Kixstar strengthened my confidence in leading/ supporting others, as well as engaging with different training styles supporting others' growth. As president, I’d aim to strengthen this supportive atmosphere making sure everyone feels valued whether training for competition or just improving.
I understand the importance of balancing competitive drive with the social side of the club so as president I’d work to strengthen both alongside other committee members. Ultimately, I want to give back to the club that’s already given me so much. With my experience, leadership skills and love for the sport, I’m ready to help UCL Taekwondo grow even stronger!

Hello everyone, I’m Krishna, and I am standing for UCL Taekwondo’s president. Our club means so much to me; UCL TKD is a place full of caring, ambitious people I’m grateful to call my taekwondo family and I would be honoured to have this opportunity.
I am passionate about and committed to the club. Having run Monday training sessions with Silvia, I’ve also trained in all WT, ITF and Freestyle aspects, which has enabled me to get to know all members of our society. I am always around and pledge to listen to and take action on concerns voiced by anyone in our community.
As your Events Secretary for this year, I’ve worked well with our committee and members of the SU and planned multiple events, including organising our freshers fair. I’ve also run a variety of socials in addition to planning collaborative events with other societies and universities. My experience will allow me to set up Varsity, fight nights and more formals in the future.
I understand that President is a huge role but it is a challenge that I am confident and excited about taking on. If I am elected, I would like to focus on fostering the family feel of our club; keeping our strong relationships with coaches and clubs and helping drive our team towards a 9th win. I would like to set up more ITF and Freestyle sessions, and keep up the amazing work that our current committee has done.
It has been such a privilege making memories with every one of you. I look forward to seeing our club grow even more next year. ❤️

Hi everyone! My name is Shilang, and I'm a second-year student. Since joining the club last year, I've been surrounded by a warm, supportive community that has helped me to continue my passion for taekwondo and build lasting friendships. As a result, I am motivated to contribute more and step up as President.
My experience as a committee member has prepared me to be an effective leader. This year, I had the opportunity to lead Run Club and some poomsae sessions, building my confidence in leadership and communication. As Volunteering Secretary, I have become familiar with some of the administrative tasks involved with running the club, including organising volunteer umpires and planning charity events. These experiences helped me develop skills such as using spreadsheets to track entries, writing risk assessments, and communicating with the Student Union by email.
Working together with fellow committee members on challenges such as hiring new coaches and planning freshers’ events has also strengthened my understanding of how to delegate roles and make collaborative decisions based on different people's views. As your President, I will work hard to ensure the whole committee stays on track to deliver events smoothly.
I feel privileged to be part of this club, and I wish to give back as President by fostering the uplifting spirit that makes it so special. My goal is to ensure this club remains a positive space for training and connecting with others for future members.
