I am excited to apply for the role of Secretary of UCL SurgSoc, building on the successes of my year as SurgSoc Events Officer. Facilitating the annual recurrence of the fan-favourite Scrubs Run, which raised over £350 for GOSH, showed its potential to grow even further. Similarly, the RCS Networking events attracted an incredible specialist turnout, and I want to continue strengthening these opportunities through early communication with surgeons and reflecting on feedback received- such as making events cheaper to widen participation.

Being on the main committee has given me a deep understanding of how different roles collaborate. As Secretary, I will ensure clear delegation across the team using a centralised calendar to scale up events, streamline logistics, and support major conferences like iNUGSC, which will be both rewarding and impactful for years to come.

Beyond administration, I want to enhance engagement through a more dynamic monthly newsletter, incorporating videos and event testimonials to boost participation. Expanding the SurgSoc Spotify Podcast ('Beyond the Incision') by bringing in exciting speakers, allowing members to conduct interviews, and even providing a platform for students to share their research will encourage knowledge-sharing and networking.

I am committed to making SurgSoc even more interactive, organised, and engaging, ensuring we continue to inspire the next generation of surgeons.
