I am applying for the SurgSoc Neurology and Neurosurgery Chair because I want to foster a collaborative environment where students have the opportunity to explore and develop interest in these fields. At NHNN, I observed neurorehabilitation, speech therapy, and neurosurgeries, including a burr-hole evacuation of CSDH. Seeing the MDT’s precision and teamwork reinforced my decision to pursue this field. I have furthered my understanding through an edX Neuroscience course and have read Oliver Sacks, which made me love the intricacies of the brain, including what we do not know already.
Beyond academics, I have a developed leadership and organisation skills. As Head Prefect, I coordinated assemblies and school-wide initiatives, strengthening my communication and teamwork skills. I also co-founded my sixth form’s MedSoc, organising mock interviews, guiding students through applications, and securing guest speakers to support aspiring medical students. This experience has equipped me with the ability to plan and execute events effectively.
If selected, I will expand opportunities by securing expert speakers, organising surgical skills workshops, and facilitating clinical exposure. I want to create a vibrant community that encourages exploration and growth in these fields and create structured revision sessions to support students academically. By collaborating with organisations and securing funding, I will ensure the society provides meaningful engagement beyond lectures.

I’m thrilled to be running for UCL Neurology & Neurosurgery Chair for the 2025/26 academic year. With a strong background in leadership, research, & event organisation, I’ve gained invaluable experience, positioning me well for this role. As Operations Lead for INNC 2025, I developed skills in large-scale event planning & cross-functional team management. My research work in computational neurology during my intercalated BSc has deepened my understanding of both the scientific & clinical aspects of neurology & neurosurgery, inspiring me to create more opportunities for students to engage in research in these fields. Additionally, my role as Preclinical Education Lead for RUMS Badminton has fuelled my passion for teaching & equipped me to create interactive content that promotes deeper understanding.
My key goals:
- INNC 2026: Build on INNC 2025’s success by increasing student participation & networking, while collaborating with experts to create a diverse & impactful conference.
- Medicine Teaching Series: Expand the series for both clinical & preclinical students, focusing on interactive learning & small-group case discussions.
- Mentorship Programme: Launch a mentorship initiative to connect students with doctors in the field, providing career guidance & networking support.
Building on the incredible work of previous committees, I hope to inspire more students to explore neurology & neurosurgery & create more opportunities for hands-on learning, mentorship, & research
