I am passionate about celebrating Sudanese culture and fostering a strong community of students. As Media Officer, I will enhance social engagement, amplify our voices, and create a vibrant platform to celebrate our heritage as well as bring attention to the dire situation in Sudan.
As salamu alaykum! I'm Aya, and I'm in my first year studying Politics and IR. I'm running to be media representative as I want to further my experience in this field. I have done some social media posts for Sudanese society in the past, and I am now hoping to continue that role so we can share the highlights of events that happen within the society.
I have experience in using Canva and CapCut for both myself and organisations, so I would be able to deliver engaging content for our society.
If elected, I would
- Create a regular newsletter to bring about the latest news, whether that is events or news surrounding the conflict ongoing in Sudan
- Ensure the Instagram feed is up to date and regularly post updates on social media about what is happening in Sudan
- Introduce vlogs (e.g: day in the life, event preparation etc) so we can create content that engages other people and encourages them to come to our society events, and update the Sudanese society TikTok to create a wider audience
Ultimately, I believe that my skills in having created social media for myself and other organisations makes me the ideal candidate for the role! We want to encourage more people, regardless of whether they are Sudanese or not to feel welcome to come to our events, and by having an engaging media officer, this would be great to create a wider audience.
