Hi! I’m Rania, a 1st year studying Arts and Sciences. I’ve loved being part of committee this year as Social Secretary and would love to be your Studio Theatre Officer.
My first show was a Studio show, and it was a welcoming environment in which I met some of the loveliest people and built confidence in the theatre. I love the creativity, versatility, and intimacy of a black-box; the Studio has a lot to offer in terms of making engaging productions.
I’ve been on three Studio shows so far (as sound designer & CSM) and I'm on committee, so I’m familiar with the space, its requirements, and the possible issues that may arise during production. For next year, I’d like to:
- Develop and communicate and an expected timeline for information for Stage Crew in the weeks leading up to a show week, especially concerning set.
- Manage expectations with production teams with what can be done in the space during our access hours.
- Provide space and opportunity to learn the “soft skills” of theatre tech.
- Provide an environment where people are comfortable and working with technicians to ensure that, when possible, as much hands-on learning is being done as possible.
- And, of course, facilitate the tech-ing of brilliant shows that all of Stage Crew can be proud of.
Thank you for considering me! <3

Hi! I’m Nikki and I’ll be going into my 2nd year of law next year. I’ve always loved theatre so being part of Stage Crew has been so much fun! I’ve worked on a range of shows in the Blooms, Studio, and externals, learning new skills from each show and gaining experience and insight into each department.
Having recently worked on a Studio show, I can honestly say it’s been my favourite experience working on a show yet! It’s such a lovely space which provides a calmer introduction to working on shows, allowing people to learn on the job and feel a greater sense of support due to the smaller, more tight-knit crew. With the Studio being a great learning space I’d want to promote it as such, encouraging more people to sign up to these smaller shows as a way of familiarising themselves with what working on a show involves and granting them a chance to meet other members of the society in a more intimate setting.
It’s also the ideal space for those with prior SC experience to take on lead roles sooner, gaining the experience whilst being supported as needed! Through experience on a variety of shows, I feel that I would be capable of providing this support and ensuring the experience remains as stress-free as possible to those taking on roles.
I love the studio space and how quickly it can be transformed for each production, and would love the chance to oversee the shows taking place :)
