Hi, I’m Selin, a second-year student, and I’m running for Treasurer because I’m passionate about making snowsports more accessible, affordable, and inclusive for everyone.
Snowsports Society has been the highlight of my university experience, and I want more people to get involved and experience everything this community has to offer. However, many of my friends, especially those who have never skied, are put off by the cost. I want to change this perception and ensure financial barriers don’t stop anyone from joining.
Recently, I came across an event offering free ski lessons for International Women’s Day. I shared it with friends, a few of whom were able to learn to ski for free and this demonstrates how awareness and promotion of opportunities can make a real difference. As Treasurer, I want to actively seek out and advertise similar initiatives to help more students get involved.
I also recognise that everyone has different schedules, making it difficult to be an active member throughout the year. That’s why I want to implement flexible membership options, so students can participate at a level that works best for them.
For our society to grow and thrive, it needs a well-managed financial foundation. Having a diligent and responsible treasurer who can confidently oversee its finances is essential, and I believe I can fulfil this role by ensuring transparency, securing funding, and efficient budgeting.

Hi all,
I’m running for treasurer of snowsports because I really want to get stuck in at the heart of the society next year. Despite only joining in November/December, I have attended as many training sessions as possible, came to AJAM, headed to Ascot, and fully embraced the slightly chaotic, but very fun, group of people at snowsports. Unfortunately, I have been unwell the last few weeks, but I’m looking forwards to Andorra, and hopefully a fantastic year ahead.
As an economics student in final year, I am more than comfortable with a budget, and have direct experience having served as co-treasurer for Junior Consulting Sciences Po in the first half of my degree. This gave me hands-on experience managing finances, ensuring transparency, and balancing budgets-skills I would bring to snowsports. Being treasurer is obviously not just about numbers, it’s about making sure that all runs smoothly, being a central contact point, keeping trips affordable, and guaranteeing that social events continue. I’m organised and would ensure that finances were kept in order after Molly’s run, maintaining efficiency and fun.
As a French-Scot from Edinburgh, I think I bring the best of both worlds in terms of money: financial caution/frugality when needed (less so in the pub...) but very happy to indulge if it’s worth it (...cheese and après). I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone this year, and would love the opportunity to contribute more next year.
See you on the slopes... or at the pub!

Hey, I'm Oscar - a first year English student and this year's freshers rep.
Since coming to UCL, snowsports has become key part in shaping my uni life. Notably, the community and opportunity it has offered, something that as treasurer I would make my primary aim to share with many new members as well as our returners.
I plan on achieving this by using my limitless free time to work with each committee member to help realise their ideas of how to better the club. Ensuring we remain aligned with UCL financial policy; without drifting too far from what should be our main focus. Enjoying snowsports!
Personally, this year has tested my budgeting skills, and has shown me that even on restricted student finances, it is possible to become more involved in our sport than I would have ever imagined. If you told me in September that by March I would be able to afford: a pair of ski boots and skis, would be getting ready to go on my second ski trip this academic year, as well as having the chance to competitively ski throughout first and second term, without starving, I would have laughed at you.
A feat that I hope shows my love for our sport, and one I wish to replicate throughout next year when replacing and updating equipment, plus enriching our socials further to create as welcoming and enjoyable an atmosphere as possible. I believe the better we look on the slopes, and more cooked we look in the pub, the more people will be inticed to become involved members of our club.
