Many of you may know me from drinking two shots out of my snow boots in Val Thorens, or from my habit of passing out at nearly every Kings race. But cucullus non facit monachum – do not judge a man by his appearances. Beneath that veneer of functioning alcoholism and vulnerability to peer pressure lies UCL’s best hope at a functioning ski team.
As ski captain, I promise to make Thursday trainings bigger, better, and boozier than ever (RIP Seb Bayles). I aim to increase participation across the society, through a broader outreach to the student body, and breaking the stigma around dry-slope skiing. I will further guarantee a post-training pub trip, alongside a free brewski for anyone who shows major improvement or commitment. Training should be an opportunity not only to improve your skiing, but to socialise, to make friends for life, and to get thoroughly pissed.
In terms of competition, my fervour for winning is unmatched by anyone running against me. What I lack in race experience, I make up for in sheer drive and ambition. Nil sine labore, as they say. A vote for Michael is a vote for better club skis, proper maintenance of skis, and proper race prep equipment. For too long have we been on the backfoot against other unis - no longer. Through this, we can achieve environment where all skiers, whatever their ability, can compete, improve, and achieve glory.
Choose a captain who has YOUR interests at heart. Choose Michael.
