I joined salsa society earlier this year and have loved every class and social I have been to. The number of friends I’ve made from dancing is almost incomparable to all my other societies! I would like to be part of the committee next year so I can continue the great work salsa does and make sure we can all keep dancing. I have experience in finances from starting a small business and various entrepreneurial courses that I have done. I am very keen to learn more on the job and improve my skills while making sure the society is financially stable and all members get to enjoy and learn from our skilled class teachers and workshops teachers.

I’m Amelia, a 2nd year Astrophysics student and I’m running for Treasurer because, over the past two years, I’ve become incredibly passionate about salsa and our society’s kind, supportive, and welcoming community. Salsa’s been a huge part of my experience at uni, and I want to continue giving back to this amazing society.
For most of this year, I’ve been one of the society’s Comms Officers, a role that’s helped my understanding of how the society operates and allowed me to contribute to our growth by increasing member engagement. By continuing to be a part of the committee, I want to ensure a smooth transition into the next year whilst finding ways to make the society even more enticing for both current and prospective members.
My skills in organisation, attention to detail, and effective communication have helped me succeed as a Comms Officer, and I’ll continue to apply them in managing our finances. I’m committed to maintaining our society’s financial health by developing budgets that align with our goals and meticulously overseeing expenditures to allow us to grow sustainably and continue sharing the joy of salsa with as many people as possible.
Above all, I want to ensure members experience the same positive impact that salsa has had on me—boosting my confidence, expanding my social circle with the loveliest of people, and creating unforgettable memories. I’m excited to help make Salsa Soc a space where everyone feels connected and can always have a great time! :)

For the past two years, UCL Salsa Society has been my home away from home. Competing with the Bachata team last year and winning first place was a defining moment for me: it not only deepened my passion for dance but also strengthened my bond with this vibrant community. While Bachata has always been my main focus, Cuban Salsa has sparked a new passion, and I’m eager to continue growing as both a dancer and an ambassador of this incredible society.
I am excited to run for Treasurer because I want to give back to the community that has provided me with friendships, confidence, and a sense of belonging. My Political Science degree has equipped me with the skills necessary for managing finances effectively. Through my studies, I’ve honed my ability to analyse quantitative data, manage budgets, and maintain transparent financial records. I also have significant hands-on experience in budgeting, financial planning, and project management, and I’m comfortable using tools like Excel to handle the financial responsibilities with accuracy and detail.
Financial management goes hand-in-hand with communication and collaboration, so I am committed to working closely with the committee, ensuring funds are allocated efficiently to support our events and activities. Ultimately, I want to be a reliable resource for the committee, making sure we stay financially healthy so Salsa Society remains a space where members can come together, share their love for dance, and create lasting memories.
