Contributions to the club aren’t just done on the field but are also off the field. Henceforth, I look to put my financial acumen to good use utilising the proficient knowledge developed through my Statistics, Economics and Finance course to manage the clubs’ finances. Planning to make MUCH needed investments in things like tape, balls, kit and other equipment to drive forward the success of the club. One heavy investment going into next year would also be a scrum machine seeing as we all know half of our games are spent scrummaging, making a financial investment in one is very crucial as it would be super beneficial for everyone. My experience gathered as an active payroll officer has given me a great understanding of balancing financial stability with necessary expenditures to effectively cost cut whilst maximising output. Additionally, I aim to bring stability and assurance through effective communication and organisation to bolster the team for the much more competitive and aggressive season ahead. Not only this, but also a strong level of trust that money is being well spent through actively showcasing purchases being made to ensure that your contributions to this club aren’t going up in flames. Therefore, as a prop stands in the front row ready to engage at scrum time, I am prepared and ready to take on the financial burden of the club to take us to greater heights so that we can once again secure the league title.

I am standing for the position of treasurer because I want to see the club grow, and financial responsibility is a key step to a healthy club. I may not be an investment banker yet, but I'll ensure the club's finances are managed properly, efficiently, and transparently, so that we can all enjoy next season on the field and during curry socials.

I think I'm the right person for this position, firstly because, despite relying a little too much on my student loan every month, I am financially responsible at an individual and group scale. From previous experience during internships, I had to budget, track payments, do balance sheets, etc. Secondly, my degree is actually relevant to this position, more than whatever Simms studies, and would bring me experience that correlates to the material I learn in class, like economics, accounting, management, etc.  (I promise you management science isn't as bullshit as it sounds)

To finish this off, I want to emphasise how much rugby means to me, whether it's club rugby or university rugby, and being next year's treasurer goes way beyond simply putting it on my cv which has been utilised a grand total of 0 times so far. I want our club to grow and be efficient, and I can assure that everything will be organised so no "unexpected" situations happen.

Vote for me for state-of-the-art budgeting and fundraising, no embezzlement, and a club that’ll last longer than Ireland in a World Cup quarter-final.

Joe Ding

Some of you know me as Bancrofts. Some of you might not know me at all. That's because I broke my finger trying to tackle the posh and slippery Struan Fotheringham. But my finger has healed and I'm back.

I study Economics, so naturally working with budgets and spreadsheets makes me weak. More importantly, I've had experience managing society budgets as a First-Year Rep for the UCL Economics Society. I've worked with the Student Union Finance Department to allocate funds, including helping to allocate a £15,000 budget for an end of year social.

I understand how society finances are structured - balancing the non-grant account and securing funds for the grant account. Next year, I would also want to push for external sponsorships to subsidise some of the kit costs, just like we do in the Economist Society with merch.

I'm Asian asw.
