The uniqueness of my mix, being British, Jamaican, Nigerian and Lebanese I have grown up a strong advocate for inclusivity and bringing communities together. In such a diverse university like UCL, I hope to use my role to promote inclusivity in all areas ensuring students from various cultures feel encouraged to participate. In rugby specifically I plan to embrace culture through a cultural social, encouraging people to dress up in their native attire whilst indulging in various kinds of foods from all around the world. By fostering inclusivity, building relationships and representing UCL’s values of openness and diversity I hope to potentially reach out to even those that may have never played rugby before or are new to the sport to get involved and strengthen the community. Especially seeing the positive impact meeting new people has had on my university experience; I look forward to bringing that across to rugby to help others build connections and navigate student life through a sport that we all love. Henceforth, I am running for this position to utilise my enthusiasm for meeting new people and embracing different perspectives to help other new coming first years and fellow students across UCL to get involved.
