Jantaj Singh

I’m excited to run for Vice President of our Punjabi Society because it will allow me to help grow our community and make it an even more vibrant part of campus life. Being Punjabi is more than just speaking the language or listening to the music, it’s a culture built on unity, tradition, and pride. I want to ensure that our society reflects this by bringing people together through engaging events, innovative ideas, and a true sense of belonging.

One of my key goals is to expand the range of events we offer. From panels to boat parties, I want to create experiences that celebrate Punjabi culture while also making the society more inclusive for everyone interested. I want to introduce networking sessions and CV workshops, where students can connect with Punjabi professionals from different industries. Additionally, I want to strengthen our presence within the university, collaborating with other cultural and academic societies to amplify Punjabi representation on campus.

As Vice President, I will bring strong leadership, organisation, and creativity to make these ideas a reality. I’ll work closely with the committee to ensure events run smoothly, are well-promoted, and reach as many students as possible. My ability to connect with people, manage logistics, and think outside the box will help take the society to the next level.

If elected, I’ll be dedicated to making the Punjabi Society bigger, better, and more vibrant than ever before.

Let’s make this year one to remember!

Maya Sidhu

Growing up and being able to fully immerse myself in Punjabi culture has helped me find my identity and sense of purpose. It has made me the confident person I am today. That is what I hope to bring to our society if elected as Vice President. Our vibrant and diverse culture is one that should be celebrated and used to help others find their sense of identity. As Vice President, I would serve on the basis of wanting to get things done for everyone because at its core, our society should value the importance of inclusion.

Having been Head Girl at school, I have experience in leading a big team and communicating with leadership bodies similar to the Students Union. Moreover, it gave me experience in a range of areas such as charity work & fundraising, community development, PR, Logistics, and marketing.

In order to have a level of inclusivity, I would send out a form asking all members what they want to see from the committee and the society over the year to make sure that everyone's voice is heard. That way, the committee continues to serve the purpose of listening and reflecting on what its members want.

Genuine commitment, passion and experience are only a few of the skills I can bring to our society if elected as Vice President. Vote Maya to have a confident, well-run and inclusive Committee and society. Together, we can have a Punjabi society that not only honours our heritage but functions for you.

Thank you!
