Hello everyone! My name is Wayne and I am to be your next Welfare Officer!
I am nominating myself for the position of Welfare Officer because, as a first-year international student, this society helped me integrate into UCL life. I remember arriving here, worried that I wouldn't be able to make friends, but after coming to the first quiz I found myself effortlessly making friends because everyone was so nice! Running for Welfare Officer is my way of paying back the favour and ensuring that this society continues to be as welcoming as it was for me.
I chose to run for Welfare Officer specifically because I have experience working in similar positions. I was a member of my secondary school's Queer-Straight Alliance, where I was responsible for solving cases of bullying. I was also a founding member of my school's Welfare team, where I helped draft the first support system dedicated to victims of bullying. From these experiences, I know how hard, yet rewarding, being a Welfare Officer can be.
If anyone wants to contact me, I'm almost always active on the server so you only have to ask! Thank you for taking the time to read this!

My name is Ahmad Arefin (The Gamexpert), and I am incredibly excited at the opportunity to stand for the position of UCL Pokémon Society Welfare Officer. I am currently a second-year undergraduate History student. I have been a lifelong Pokémon and Nintendo fan, and I love all things Pokémon-related, whether the mainline games, mobile games, anime, or trading cards. I have almost all the games on Nintendo 3DS and Switch, and recently I've been addicted to collecting cards in TCG Pocket.
The first ever game I played was a relatively niche side-game called Pokémon Ranger for the Nintendo DS, where your mission is to befriend and save people and Pokémon. I loved the way the game made the Pokémon come to life, and the core messages of friendship, teamwork, compassion and taking care of the world we live in that the game showed.
I believe that mental health and wellbeing is incredibly important, and I am committed to ensuring that the society continues to be safe, welcoming environment for everyone. I will be friendly, supportive and approachable, and make sure all members feel included, represented and heard. I will always be open to feedback and advice, and will try to think of new ways to make the Pokémon Society even better! I want to make sure that no matter what you're going through, you can always reach out for help.
I look forward to standing as Welfare Officer and hope you'll vote for me in this year's elections!
Hi! I'm Michelle; I'm a law student and I'm running to be your welfare officer next year. I've loved my time with Pokésoc and apparently I keep talking about it (apologies to my friends), but it has genuinely added so much to my first year at uni, so no promises that I'll stop yapping. I love how kind, safe, and inclusive Pokésoc is. Socializing is hard enough with how big of a change university is (esp. moving from another country!), but I've met and made friends with such amazing people through this society.
I think that a good welfare officer not only safeguards the well-being of a society, but also represents minorities and advocates for their best interests. I know that good representation is both indicative and responsive, and I promise to be both. I believe that my involvement in leading student clubs, including my high school's LGBTQ+ club, has provided me with invaluable experience in this department.
૮꒰ ˶• ༝ •˶꒱ა ♡ I'd be so honoured to help ensure Pokésoc remains such a welcoming and supportive community for the years to come as welfare officer, so I hope you'll consider having me!
