Sagar Nair

Hey all! I'm Sagar, and I hope I've gotten to know you - either in person at all this year's socials, or on Discord as @indigosamurott. Whether you recognise me for my Monday-morning otter posts or my table-walking prowess, I'd love to snag your vote as 2025's new Treasurer.

So, I adore Pokésoc. Frankly, even I'm surprised by how quickly I grew committed to this community; when I burst into the freshers' quiz ten minutes late, face burning, I remember making a meek wish that no one in the room would ever recognise me again. It's hard to identify exactly when spending time with those same people became the highlight of my every week, but the ensuing months didn't give me long to stay in doubt - I can't stress enough how valuable you all are to me.

Well uh, speaking of valuables, why am I going for Treasurer? Regardless of this election's outcome, you'll see me cheering for mewCL and its committee throughout the coming year(s), but I'm super excited to take a more active role in supporting the President & other officers if you grant me a seat. I do take a lot of care when managing finances, so I'd work to ensure that you guys feel the love you deserve whilst helping our exchequer grow fat for more ambitious events. Plus, as a CS kid, I tend to fuss over the technical details, so sorting out paperwork and keeping the society's documents in order is no biggie for me either :)

n' I even resisted the urge to joke about loving money that whole time lol <3 so thanks!

Michelle Li

Hi! I'm Michelle; I'm a law student and I'm running for treasurer. I've loved my time with Pokésoc and it means a lot to me; it's given me a safe environment to geek out in and a sense of community. I look forward to coming to the socials/events every Wednesday and hanging out with the friends I've made here.

Paperwork, money, and spreadsheets: 3 things I can't live without. I believe that my passion and previous experience working with these things would serve me well in the treasurer role. As treasurer, I will try my best to keep any costs as low as possible to ensure accessibility to events, as well as figure out ways the society can save money. I think that fundraising is imperative for lifting the financial burden from members and enabling us to host cool events - some ideas that I'd like to explore are crowdfunding events and bake sales.

ฅ^•ﻌ•^ฅ ♡  I hope you all consider me for treasurer!

Anson Chan

I'm Anson/Strat, current 1st yr econ student, running for treasurer. My passion for pokemon and desire to help continue building a welcoming and fun community is the most important thing that drives me to want to run for this role. I enjoy organizing and planning things for things that I am passionate about (not school projects), which is supported by my experience in being president of my previous school's competitive pokemon club, where I really enjoyed my time organizing pokemon draft leagues, quizzes and meme tournaments, albeit for a much smaller audience - something that this role can help me in upgrading myself as well. I believe in my skills, but more importantly, commitment to organizing the club's finances and other finer details, while also just helping out with everything in general. I believe in my ability to record, plan everything without delay, to maintain the society budget, to communicate with everyone else, especially for something I am so passionate about in life.

Andrew Lau

I am applying for this position not only because I genuinely enjoy dealing with numbers, but even more so because I want to give back to this warm and welcoming community. This community has given me early friendships and connections before my university life has started, and I am very grateful to have that.

I would say I am quite suited to be specifically a treasurer. As a STEM student, I am very sensitive to numbers, and I do enjoy compiling and managing data, which includes budget tracking. Another thing is that I am very organised. I understand being the treasurer would mean organising through a lot of forms and receipts to reimburse payments, and I believe having the habit of keeping things organised is key to making this step smoother. Finally, I uphold myself to finish important things on time or before the deadline if possible. This means I will make sure all payment and reimbursement issues are resolved as soon as possible.

As a treasurer, I would like to help smoothen and speed up the budget related processes in the society, ensure there are no outstanding payments that will hinder future event plannings, and make sure no reimbursements are dragged behind.
