Hi everyone,

I'm running to be YOUR Physics Society Treasurer. It's time PhySoc managed their financial structures in the way THEY WANT, and who better can serve it than someone who has worked on fleets of UAVs (around 700-1000 UAVs in one fleet) on extremely tight budget constraints. As your treasurer, I will ensure the monetary resources available to PhySoc are used to maximise socials and collabs with other clubs and universities. Additionally, I'll try to minimise our costs on academic enrichment events like lectures, seminars and alike without diminishing their quality and quantity. I personally understand the joy derived from sports socials like the recent Volleyball Club X PhySoc Social so I'd strive to ensure the society maintains their budget for more outdoorsy activities with a potential climbing social upcoming(??). I want PhySoc to be oriented more towards the fun and playful side while maintaining the notion of academic rigour our club carries, and I'd maintain our resources that way. I'd aim to introduce more affordable merch and more resources for movie nights as well, so none of the society members feel left out due to the pricing of the merch or due to other commitments they might have to other clubs. I wish to secure more sponsors via advertising and career fairs, with some funding directly from the Department of Physics and Astronomy to ultimately enhance YOUR experience as a PhySoc member. So, vote for me to be YOUR Physics Society Treasurer TODAY!

Arhham Shah

I am standing for the position of Treasurer in the UCL Physics Society because I am passionate about ensuring the society's financial health and transparency. With experience running two of my own businesses—one in the culinary space and another in teaching—I have honed my skills in financial management, budgeting, and strategic planning.

In my culinary business, where I served as the Head of Baking, I was responsible for managing budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring profitability. Similarly, in my teaching business, I handled financial planning and resource allocation to provide the best possible learning experience for my students.

As Treasurer, I will:

  • Ensure Financial Transparency: Maintain clear and transparent financial records, making sure that all members are informed about the society's financial status.
  • Efficient Budget Management: Develop and manage budgets effectively to support a wide range of engaging events and activities.
  • Strategic Planning: Implement strategic financial plans to ensure the long-term sustainability and growth of the society.

With my entrepreneurial experience and strong financial management skills, I am confident in my ability to serve as an effective Treasurer for the UCL Physics Society. Your support will help us build a financially robust and thriving community, where we can continue to explore and enjoy the wonders of physics together. Let's work towards a financially sound and dynamic society!
