Mixed Martial Arts Club: Fight Team Leader

Training is fun, but there's nothing like an actual fight with your friends, family, and hundreds of others cheering you on. We're lucky that we get to compete in these events. However, match-making at this level must be done carefully to avoid mismatches, protect the wellbeing of our fighters, and put on a good show for the audience. 

I've fought for the club, and I've also cornered 4 events in 4 different cities. As a result, I already have a good relationship with a number of the organisers who will be running future fight nights which will help with matchmaking. I also have a sense of which clubs under-report their fighters' records, which may be best to avoid in the future. Moving forward, we should make sure our fighters are up against competition who train similarly to UCL, and are a suitable level of experience across all martial arts disciplines. I will also consider the views of other committee members on the match-ups before presenting it to the fighters.
