Hello! My name is Jane, I’m a second year Medicine student, and I have been a member of the MedTech society since I joined university. I have always had a profound interest in the field, but attending all the different events and conferences these 2 years deepened my passion even further. Now that I am set to intercalate in Medical Physics next year, I would be honoured to step in as your Welfare officer to help other students uncover their passion for the field and become a part of the open-minded empowering community.
Welfare roles in societies often go unnoticed, but I believe they play a vital role in driving positive change and require time and effort from the respective officers to do so. As a current medical society (RUMS) welfare representative, I’ve gained the skills necessary to make welfare more present, accessible, and impactful—and I’m eager to bring these efforts to MedTech Society:
No matter how big or small your concerns are, I will always be available to listen and support you. I am committed to addressing welfare issues head-on and fostering an environment where everyone feels safe, included, and empowered.
I aim to implement welfare strategies that have worked well in my experience of being a Welfare Rep, such as drop-in events for casual, open conversations about general well-being.

As welfare officer for the UCL MedTech Society, I'd ensure members don't flatline from stress while coding the next breakthrough in healthcare. I want to create a supportive community where everyone regardless of skill level feels welcome (my skill level is pretty low), and can have a good time.
Hi, my name is Victoria and I am a second-year Medical Innovation and Enterprise student! I have been a MedTech member for two years now, and would love to contribute to this enriching society as a welfare officer.
I think I would be a great candidate for this position as I am a very strong communicator but also an active listener. Therefore, I could support our members while also representing the welfare needs and concerns of our society really well. My communication abilities are facilitated by knowing four languages and having lived in four different countries which has also allowed me to form unique perspectives and connect with different people.
Overall, it would be very rewarding to give back and represent our society!
Hi everyone! I'm Ashley, a 2nd year Biomedical Engineering student :) I'm applying to be your Welfare Officer because I want to help create a positive environment for everyone's mental and physical wellbeing, making sure you all feel supported and heard.
I am currently the welfare officer for the Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering Society, and have organised welfare events such as study sessions and socials, and been a supportive member to the committee. I also intend to hold casual drop in sessions just for a quick chat in hopes to create a safe space for anyone needing an extra bit of support.
I've really enjoyed events this year with MedTech, both academically (all the conferences) and socially. A few key events that stood out to me include the Goodnotes Study Session, which helped me meet loads more like-minded people, and the tote-bag welfare social which was a great way for me to relax and paint. As welfare officer, I will do my best to continue this line of socials to all MedTech members!
