Harini Poyyamozhi

Hello, I'm Harini. I am eager to apply for the Events Officer role, driven by my background as a medical student and my strong passion for fostering innovation in healthcare. As a fifth-year medical student, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of technology on patient care—whether through AI-enhanced medical imaging or digital solutions that improve patient access. This experience inspired me to pursue an iBSc in Mathematics and Computers in Medicine, as well as explore machine learning research in immunology.

Over the past few years, my active involvement in the society has further ignited my commitment to this area. I’ve gained invaluable insights by participating in workshops, the mentorship programme, and networking events, and I am now eager to take on a more active role in organising and supporting future events. In my current role as Events Lead for "More than Medics," a non-profit startup, I have developed strong skills in managing speakers, securing sponsorships, and coordinating logistics. I am excited to bring these organisational and communication skills to the Events Officer role, where I can continue to contribute to the society’s success. Attending past events has given me a deep appreciation for the variety of innovations in healthcare, and I am keen to help organise events that foster learning and collaboration. With my hands-on experience in event planning and a passion for MedTech, I am confident I can play a meaningful role in delivering impactful and engaging events for the society.

Isabel Puleva

Dear MedTech Society members,

I am standing for the position of Events Officer because I am passionate about organizing and supporting impactful events that bring people together and foster collaboration within the MedTech Society. As a student in Medical Innovation and Enterprise, I believe events play a crucial role in connecting students, professionals, and innovators within the MedTech field, and I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to this process.

My previous experience in the hospitality sector has provided me with hands-on experience in organizing and running events. I have been involved in a variety of tasks from managing attendee lists and setting up to ensuring smooth event execution. This role honed my organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills, which I believe are essential for delivering high-quality events for the MedTech Society.

I am particularly passionate about creating events that inspire, educate, and engage our members in the rapidly evolving MedTech landscape. Whether it's organizing networking opportunities, workshops, or guest speaker events, I am eager to bring my event management skills to this role and ensure that each event is memorable and impactful. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to help organize and execute outstanding events for the MedTech Society.

Catharina Maschka

Hi, MedTech Society! I’m Catharina, a Biomedical Engineering student, and I’d be thrilled to serve as your Events Officer.

Having attended MedTech events, from the mentorship program to the Technology in Healthcare conference, I’ve been impressed by all the events MedTech hosts. Now, I’m eager to contribute from the other side.

What I aim to achieve:

  • Diverse and Engaging Events: From hackathons and career talks to hands-on workshops and socials, I want to ensure there’s something for everyone, no matter their background or experience level.
  • Stronger Industry Connections: Organizing company visits, alongside MedTech's impressive speaker panels, and networking events
  • Collaborations Across Disciplines: Partnering with other UCL societies and external organizations to foster interdisciplinary innovation in healthcare technology.

What I bring to the role:

  • Experience in Large-Scale Event Planning – As the First-Year Representative at UCL Engineering Society, I helped organise society-wide events, balancing logistics, outreach, and engagement.
  • I thrive in dynamic environments and love the challenge of bringing ideas to life, especially when it comes to topics I'm especially passionate about (i.e. anything related to medical technology :) )

MedTech Society has been a highlight of my first year at UCL, and I’d love the opportunity to be part of the committee next year

Chloe Luk

Hi, I'm Chloe and I hope to be your next events officer! As a biochemistry student with an ENTJ personality, I love jam-packing my calendar with social events to connect with like-minded people. I have deeply enjoyed the events offered by MedTech this year, such as their workshops and conferences, and I want to contribute back to this dynamic society through event planning.

My previous positions as a peer counsellor and sustainability ambassador at my school helped me foster skills in event management where I aided in organising sustainability fairs, educational talks and excursions. This experience helped me realise the significance of effective communication and teamwork. I believe that the role of Events Officer will allow me to utilise these skills to organize various activities, ranging from social events to collaborative projects with other societies and universities. My goal is to connect students with different fields of STEM and provide them with opportunities to explore their specific interests.

Furthermore, I believe that strong leadership starts with effective communication. I am looking forward to working alongside others in a team and listening to your feedback to execute more engaging events for you to participate in.

Thank you so much for your time! With your vote, I hope to take on this role and contribute to creating an inspiring environemnt where we can explore the field of MedTech together!

I have been an active member of MedTech Society for almost 2 years; attending past national conferences left me feeling inspired and empowered for the future of medical technology. Engaging with incredible innovators that are shaping healthcare made me want to contribute and leverage my skills and interests to create an impactful experience for other like-minded individuals!

Having served as the Head of Entertainments Committee at my school, I have gained a deep understanding in event planning and coordination.
