Hi, I’m Adrian, a first-year Biomedical Engineering student and the current Head of Sponsorships at the Medical Physics and Biomedical Engineering Society. Through this role, I’ve gained valuable experience in financial planning, securing funding, and managing budgets, skills that directly align with the responsibilities of Treasurer. Handling sponsorships requires strategic financial thinking, ensuring funds are allocated effectively to support society growth and engagement.
I approach financial management with organization, attention to detail, and a long-term perspective, ensuring resources are used efficiently to maximize impact. A strong treasurer isn’t just about balancing numbers—it’s about making strategic decisions that enable the society to thrive.
I’m excited about the opportunity to take on this role, ensuring that the society remains financially strong while continuing to provide valuable events and initiatives. Looking forward to contributing and making a meaningful impact!
Over the past year, I have developed a strong understanding of our society’s financial needs through my role as Sponsorship Manager. Now, I want to take this experience further by ensuring our society’s finances remain stable and well-managed as Treasurer.
Here’s how my work as Sponsorship Manager has prepared me for this role:
- Organized a successful boat party, which demonstrates financial responsibility, as I assessed both feasibility and cost-effectiveness while keeping expenses in check. As Treasurer, I will apply this same level of diligence to managing our society’s funds.
- Spearheaded sponsorship negotiations, now finalizing a sponsorship deal with Panda Surgical after a year of discussions, highlighting long-term financial planning skills. I will work to ensure our society maintains financial security beyond just one-year cycles!
- Designed our first-ever sponsorship brochure, reflecting my ability to promote the society and generate external interest—because being Treasurer isn’t just about crunching numbers; it’s also about driving sustainable financial growth.
- Played a key role in a record-breaking Welcome Fair, helping boost membership beyond 300 students for the first time. More members mean greater financial responsibility!
Through the premiership of the 2024/2025 Committee, the UCL MPBE Society has grown tremendously, and I am eager to continue building on this momentum to ensure we continue to grow and thrive financially.
