My name is Harold Kwan, or Harold for convenience. My reason for running for vice president is to encourage greater communication between students from different years through Mahjong, making it easier to socialise through these interactions. Rather than focusing on competition, I envision the Mahjong social events as opportunities to improve our skills together. From my experience in the first year, I've noticed that people tend to prefer playing with others from the same language region. I would like to encourage a shift in this behaviour, so that students from different backgrounds can engage with one another, both in teaching and communicating.
I am eager to organise a variety of social events and/or extend the duration of these events to ensure everyone has ample opportunity to participate and enjoy themselves comfortably.

I would love to be the vice-president of the Mahjong Society because I am passionate about building a strong and inclusive community. Through my experience as a School Council representative and House Prefect, I have developed strong leadership and organisational skills, allowing me to effectively support the president in overseeing and managing the society. I believe that a well-organised and welcoming society enhances the experience of its members, and I am eager to contribute to that.
Previously, I was a Psychology Society ambassador, where I helped plan and lead discussions on various psychology-related topics. This role strengthened my ability to coordinate events and engage with different groups of people—skills that will be valuable in organising collaborations with other societies. Additionally, my time as a School Council representative taught me the importance of listening to different perspectives and working towards common goals, which I believe is essential in running a successful society.
I am excited about the opportunity to help promote the Mahjong Society, organise engaging events, and foster a strong sense of community among members. I look forward to working closely with the president and the rest of the committee to ensure the society continues to grow and provide a welcoming space for all.

I'm Angus Yeung, a Year 3 EEE student at UCL, and a fun fact about me is that I can play various types of Mahjong, including Hong Kong, Japanese, Sichuan, and Taiwanese styles! I have been a member of the UCL Mahjong Society since its inception, and it has played a significant role in shaping my university experience. Many of my closest friendships were formed through this society, and I want to help others experience how Mahjong can bring people together.
As a former committee member, I am familiarized with the process of organizing events and I'm well-versed in teaching newcomers about Mahjong. I believe my experience makes me an excellent fit for this role in the society; I will always be present during the weekly social events, and will be happy to address any concerns people may have about the game of Mahjong as well as assisting anyone who may need help with learning the game!
I want to show more people just how enjoyable and fun mahjong can be with a group of friends, or even as a means to meet new people. Mahjong might seem intimidating at first, but it’s an incredibly fun and rewarding game once you give it a try! For those who are eager to compete, I will also be introducing more tournaments.
Overall, I aim to forge a lively environment for everyone to hang out in our society. With my dedication, leadership, and vision, I am committed to making this society even more exciting, inclusive, and vibrant. Vote for me and let’s build an incredible Mahjong Society together!
