Alberto Schofield-Martoglio

I am a musician who understands the main problems and necessities for live music events, as I have attended and assisted in putting on different music shows previously. I've attended many of the Live Music Events and really enjoyed all of them, and would like to organise more gigs in the future of the same quality or possibly even higher. I am passionate about music and want to create a strong community within UCL for different genres of music to come together.

I have very strong organisational skills, so I would be able to ensure we get the venues we need when we need them. I'm also a very pragmatic person and would be able to solve any problems within LMS, such as problems with the booking system or even a problem with the live music set, as I also have quite a bit of experience with different pieces of music equipment, such as bass, guitar, drums and microphones, and EQ systems.

If I am elected for this role, I would ensure the events planned are enjoyable for everyone, and that everybody who wants to play music will get a chance on the stage. I will also communicate with members of the Live Music Society to ensure that everybody is satisfied with the events they can access through their membership. I would like to potentially organise some sort of music recording event in collaboration with an Artist/Label/Studio, alongside the live music jams and gigs at Mully's, and potentially look into different music events to develop this society further.

Edna Tay

Live Music Society has given me incredible opportunities to build friendships, share music, and be part of a welcoming community. As an active member for the past two years, I have personally loved how LM events bring together musicians of all skill levels in a fun environment, hence I want to maintain and expand on these opportunities as an Events Officer. Here are some of my ideas:

  1. Building on LM's regular themed monthly gigs and Build-a-Band jams, I'd like to make them even more cohesive and engaging by introducing community polls/suggestions to choose themes, and have some gigs focusing on specific genres/eras of music. I hope to make sign-ups and turnover times during gigs more structured such that all bands can have equal opportunities to perform.
  2. Strengthen the number and competitiveness of non-drinking, inclusive events (eg. LM Family events) because we love competition but we also love cheering each other on :)
  3. Collaborate with other performing arts societies (eg. Dance, Folk Country) to provide even more exciting opportunities to showcase live music

I am a people-centred, organised (I love spreadsheets!) and responsible person, with leadership experience having held multiple Chairperson roles in the past. I am also very familiar with the various LM events, I even tried to sing during a jam before (I'm a drummer). I aim to listen to the community to deliver events in a vibrant way, so everyone can enjoy making music and friends. Thank you and I hope you vote for me!

Xueren Lyu

I am excited to nominate myself for the position of Event Officer in the Live Music Society. As a passionate advocate for live music and event organizations, I am eager to contribute my skills, creativity, and enthusiasm to ensure that our society continues to thrive and provide memorable experiences for our members. I have always been deeply involved in the music scene, whether as a performer, organizer, or enthusiastic supporter. My experience in event planning, coordination, and teamwork has equipped me with the ability to manage logistics and communicate effectively with performers and staff. I am confident that my organizational skills, coupled with my love for live music performances, will enable me to plan and execute successful events that bring our community together. If elected, I plan to introduce innovative event formats, collaborate with local artists and bands, and ensure seamless execution of live performances. I am also committed to making our events more inclusive and accessible, fostering an environment where all members feel welcome to participate and showcase their talents. I would be honored to serve as the Event Officer and work alongside fellow music enthusiasts to elevate the society’s impact. Thank you for considering my nomination. I look forward to the opportunity to contribute and help make our society’s events more dynamic and engaging.
