Jazz Society: Big Band Manager

Hi! I’m Abbie, and you probably know me for playing alto sax in the big band.

One of the main reasons I joined Jazz Society was for the big band, and the time I’ve spent as part of it has been nothing short of unforgettable, especially leading up to and during Jazz Reimagined and Fiesta. I, alongside the many other regular big band musicians, want to see it thrive even more than it already has.

If elected as Big Band Manager, I will make this happen by using my experience both as a student leader of my sixth form’s jazz band and as part of the Fiesta production team to conduct and efficiently allocate the time given in each rehearsal. I will also find and introduce fun arrangements for the band to play, and possibly bring snacks for rehearsals in the run up to big shows.

Hello everyone! I'm Harriet.

I was new to playing jazz when I joined the society this year. It was a little nerve-wracking at first, but Big Band quickly became a welcoming space where I could learn, surrounded by a friendly community. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's felt this way.

As Big Band manager, I'd love to create that same supportive atmosphere for others - welcoming new faces, keeping rehearsals running smoothly, and making sure we have fun arrangements to play. I'd like to think I'm organised and reliable, so you can count on me to keep things on track throughout the year.

Most of all, I want to help make next year an enjoyable and rewarding one for everyone. I'd love your vote, and I'm excited for another great year together! :)
