Nicholas Dao

Hi everyone,

My name is Nick, a second-year student in Statistics, Economics, and Finance. I am excited to stand for Treasurer to strengthen the society’s financial foundation and expand opportunities for members.

As Treasurer of UCL Vietnamese Society, I managed a £1,000+ budget, secured sponsorships for a 200+ guest event, and negotiated cost-sharing agreements with other universities. I optimized financial planning, maximized resource allocation, and ensured sustainable growth. I believe that I can apply these experiences when managing the Investment Society’s finances.

Beyond society management, my equity research internship sharpened my attention to detail and strategic financial planning, reinforcing my ability to analyze budgets, optimize spending, and drive financial efficiency. If elected, I will ensure prudent budget management, expand sponsorships, and uphold financial transparency to support the society’s long-term success.

With my experience and commitment, I am ready to make a lasting impact as your Treasurer.

Louis Zhu

Over the past two years, UCLIS has constructively shaped my university experience, from mentee to mentor to VP of Mentorship. Having secured insight days at Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan to leading a team of 100+, organizing CV & CL workshops, and hosting mentorship socials, I’ve seen how well-structured initiatives create meaningful value for members and strengthen the society’s presence.

This year, we secured sponsorships with OSG, CCI, and Money Maze while hosting our flagship UCL Finance Conference, featuring Jefferies CEO Rich Handler. As the conference enters its 16th year, securing stronger financial backing is key to sustaining and scaling these initiatives.

As President of my departmental society, Treasurer of the UCL Government and Politics Society, and an analyst at UCLIF and Blackelm Equity, I have developed strong financial stewardship and strategic leadership skills. As your Treasurer, I will oversee financial planning and contribute to shaping the society’s growth alongside the committee.

Next year, I aim to expand partnerships, optimize budgeting, and ensure efficient fund allocation across all UCLIS initiatives. Beyond financial oversight, I am committed to strengthening the society’s long-term growth, ensuring UCLIS remains the largest and most influential finance society at UCL.

UCLIS stands out not just for its prestige and events but for its culture. With the right financial strategy and leadership, we can elevate our impact and push the society even further.

Jai Vasandani

If you had invested just $1,000 in NVIDIA in 2003, you’d have over $600,000 today. Wise investments pay off, and- through my 3-pillar strategy below- I hope you see that voting for me is one of them.

  1. Expand the Finance Conference

The finance conference is our flagship event, but we can take it to new heights. By securing high-profile speakers from IBD to AM to PE, we’ll provide members with invaluable insights and networking opportunities, making it a must-attend event; a direct pipeline to industry leaders and career opportunities.

  2. Grow Our £10k Investment Portfolio

My goal is to expand our current £10k portfolio by diversifying asset classes and introducing a structured investment strategy. We’ll analyze idiosyncratic opportunities in equities and ETFs, ensuring members gain exposure to real-world portfolio management. By involving students in decision-making through an investment committee, we’ll create an environment where learning meets capturing alpha.

  3. Strengthen Mentorship

I will organize tailored events for first, second and third year students, addressing the specific challenges and opportunities at each stage. This approach ensures that every member receives relevant, impactful experiences. Additionally, we’ll organize exclusive career development sessions covering CV building, technical interview prep, and networking strategies.

To make this possible, your vote is crucial. Together, let’s make our Investment Society the best it can be. I value your

Nikhil Boya

As an economics student interested in finance, I have a solid understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial planning. My experience in investment competitions and internships has honed my ability to manage funds effectively, and I am eager to bring bolder financial decisions to the Investment Society.

Being a first-year rep at the European Banking and Finance Society, I have gained deep insight into how student organisations thrive. I would love to apply the skills I have gained to ensure the Investment Society maintains financial stability, while also funding the most impactful initiates, securing sponsorships and maximising opportunity for all the members.

As a finalist in the Young Economist of the Year competition, I had the opportunity to visit the Treasury, 10 Downing Street, and KPMG in Canary Wharf, where I gained valuable insights and connections that I can leverage to benefit the Investment Society’s finances.

If elected, I'll work to make the Investment Society bigger and better than ever!

Yuvaraj Bhojwani Mirpuri

I’m Yuvi, an Information Management student with a strong passion for financial markets and investment management. Through my experience securing multiple spring internship offers, I have gained valuable insights into how top financial institutions operate, the importance of strategic capital allocation, and the role of financial discipline in driving success. As Treasurer of UCL Investment Society, I will ensure that our society’s finances are managed transparently, efficiently, and with long-term sustainability in mind.

With my background making data-driven decisions as a project manager, I will introduce a structured budgeting approach to maximise the value of our funding. My goal is to increase sponsorship opportunities with leading investment firms, securing financial backing for high-quality events, stock pitch competitions, and speaker series.

Beyond financial management, I will work closely with the executive team to explore new revenue streams, such as exclusive investment research reports or premium networking events, further enhancing the society’s offerings. By voting for me, you are choosing a Treasurer with first-hand industry exposure, a strong analytical mindset, and a commitment to ensuring that UCL Investment Society continues to grow as a leading community for aspiring investors.

Vivaan Salunke

Hi everyone! I'm Vivaan, a 2nd Year Economics student running for Treasurer. Being part of the society this year has taught me a lot about the investment industry, and the various career opportunities that are available to us going forward. I'm very grateful to be a member of this society, and I wish to help others learn as I have.

I intend to collaborate with the president and the committee to deliver high-quality society activities and hopefully grow our roster of guest speakers. I would use my expertise to cooperate with other societies to continue to bring exceptional events. I would also like to raise more awareness about and increase the reach of the society's mentorship programme, which I was extremely fortunate to be part of this year!

I am standing for treasurer because I feel it is a role in which I can best apply myself and become part of bringing more insightful talks to more students looking for career advice (or more clubbing events).

Previously, as Treasurer for my local council, I developed skills in budgeting and accounting, as well as organising events. I led the organisation and fundraising via sponsorships for an annual conference worth £12,500. Key sponsors included McDonald's, our local pro football club, and local schools. Hence, I can effectively and efficiently use budgets, or gather more funds.

By voting for me, you invest in me and an even better society, and I assure you I will deliver high expected returns.

Thanks!
V

Bruno Xu

I am standing for Treasurer because I want to contribute to the continued growth of UCL Investment Society and ensure it has the financial resources to support its members. As one of the largest and most active societies on campus, effective financial management is crucial for organising high-quality events and expanding opportunities for students.

With my background in Mathematics with Economics, I have strong numerical and analytical skills that will help me manage budgets and track expenses. My experience as an Academic Representative has strengthened my ability to work with stakeholders and communicate effectively, skills that are essential for this role.

I am passionate about finance and deeply value the society’s role in educating and connecting students with the industry. As Treasurer, I will work to maintain financial stability, secure sponsorships, and ensure that the society continues to provide valuable opportunities for all members.

Gabriel Law

As a certified only child, I am well-versed in the art of capital acquisition from reluctant superiors and I have learned to navigate the fine line between being an initiative-taking, charismatic beneficiary and a dreadful pest-like scrounger; I believe this talent may prove to be useful if our society is in need of extra funding for essential (or non-essential ) operations.

My previous roles in industry gives me the skills and experience needed to manage the funds of the society in a responsible and sustainable way:

  • Currently work as a junior accountant, filing tax returns, conducting regular financial analyses, and managing client records. (2022-Present)
  • Implemented a faster Excel-based data input and analysis system, significantly boosting team productivity.
  • Served as a bookkeeper for a local contracting company, gaining hands-on funding management experience. (2019-2020)

Underpinning my agenda is the support of collaboration and connection between societies, departments, students and committee members – cultivating a friendly environment within the society through well-funded social and recreational events.

In short, I believe that I could be a valuable asset to our society, in part due to my  “Qualifications and Charisma” ( –my Mother) and also due to my caring, passionate nature. I look forward to serving you (as an only child).

Claire Tu

I am excited to apply for Treasurer of the UCL Investment Society because I would love to contribute to a community that I have truly enjoyed being part of during my first year. The society has given me valuable insights into the world of finance, and now, I want to give back by helping manage its finances responsibly and efficiently.

With my international experience, I thrive in diverse environments and work well with people from all backgrounds. My academic background in mathematics and economics at UCL has strengthened my analytical skills, and my meticulous nature ensures I approach financial management with precision and attention to detail. I also have experience with financial statement modeling, which I believe will be useful in handling the society’s budget and financial planning.

Beyond my skills, I am an organized, reliable, and approachable person who enjoys working collaboratively. I would love the opportunity to support the society’s financial health, ensuring smooth operations and sustainable growth. Becoming Treasurer would allow me to apply my skills in a meaningful way while continuing to engage with like-minded students who share my passion for investment and finance.
