Alvaro Rodrigo De Diego

Dear Members of the UCL Investment Society,

I am excited to announce my candidacy for President of the Investment Society. I’ll keep this brief and to the point:

Since joining the society, I have actively participated and helped organise a wide range of events; from the Mentorship Program and the signature Financial Conference to the BlackRock mixer, the James Fishback event, the OSG presentation, and the Wharton and Stanford MBA sessions. Additionally, I took an active role in helping organise the Christmas charity event, where we managed to raise nearly £200 for the charities GAIN and Make a Wish.

These experiences have given me firsthand insight into how our events operate, how best to meet the needs of our speakers/sponsors, and how to attract new ones.

To me, leadership is about collaboration, and I look forward to working with what I am sure will be a success-driven committee that thrives and excels under pressure.

I look forward to sharing my ideas and hearing yours.

Kind Regards,

Alvaro

Umair Mobarik

Over the past year, I have been an active member of UCL Investment Society, gaining a deep understanding of how we can further enhance the society’s offerings. With firsthand experience in investing from my investment consulting summer at LCP to my work at Evolution Capital, Bank of America, and Houlihan Lokey - I bring both industry insights and strong connections to expand our opportunities.

A main goal of mine is to strengthen our real-money fund, providing more structured mentorship and training for students managing UCLIS’ £10,000 portfolio, ensuring they develop real-world investing skills. I also plan to increase access to exclusive networking events, securing partnerships with top firms giving members unparalleled exposure to industry professionals.

Having secured 13 Spring Week offers and a Houlihan Lokey summer internship, I deeply understand the recruitment process and will implement CV workshops, mock interviews, and targeted mentorship programs to help members land top finance roles.

With a 1200+ strong community, UCLIS has the potential to be the ultimate launchpad for future finance leaders. Vote for me to enhance education, recruitment, and industry engagement, and take the society to new heights!

Jai Vasandani

If you had invested just $1,000 in NVIDIA in 2003, you’d have over $600,000 today. Wise investments pay off, and- through my 3-pillar strategy below- I hope you see that voting for me is one of them.

  1. Expand the Finance Conference

The finance conference is our flagship event, but we can take it to new heights. By securing high-profile speakers from IBD to AM to PE, we’ll provide members with invaluable insights and networking opportunities, making it a must-attend event; a direct pipeline to industry leaders and career opportunities.

  2. Grow Our £10k Investment Portfolio

My goal is to expand our current £10k portfolio by diversifying asset classes and introducing a structured investment strategy. We’ll analyze idiosyncratic opportunities in equities and ETFs, ensuring members gain exposure to real-world portfolio management. By involving students in decision-making through an investment committee, we’ll create an environment where learning meets capturing alpha.

  3. Strengthen Mentorship

I will organize tailored events for first, second and third year students, addressing the specific challenges and opportunities at each stage. This approach ensures that every member receives relevant, impactful experiences. Additionally, we’ll organize exclusive career development sessions covering CV building, technical interview prep, and networking strategies.

To make this possible, your vote is crucial. Together, let’s make our Investment Society the best it can be. I value your
