If elected Editor-in-Chief of the International Relations Society’s Circum Mundum, I commit to leading our journal with a vision of inclusive and critical reporting of global affairs.
My work as a writer for Circum Mundum has shown me how journalism can spotlight overlooked issues and challenge dominant narratives. This year, I proudly contributed the first published article since 2023, a milestone that inspires me to reinvigorate our publication with fresh, engaging content.
I am dedicated to ensuring our reporting reflects the diverse voices of our global community while maintaining academic rigour and thoughtful storytelling. My experiences as a writer, team leader, and assistant editor have instilled in me the value of empathy, critical analysis, and open dialogue. I believe that true leadership means nurturing a space where every idea is welcomed and every contributor feels valued.
If entrusted with this role, I will work closely with our team to broaden our editorial vision and support emerging voices. My aim is to position Circum Mundum as not only a hub for in-depth analysis but also as a journal that makes an impact beyond our community.
Emboldened by the belief that we learn from one another, I promise to create an environment where every idea can thrive.
Hello! As a Politics and International student, an editor to numerous publications, and an active member of IR Society, serving as the Circum Mundum Editor-in-Chief presents the perfect opportunity to apply my skills and learn more about goings-on of the world!
My experience as the Deputy Editor-in-Chief for The Diplomacy Review has taught me how to manage a large group of writers while still ensuring timely publications for both our online and print versions. In fact, to streamline the process, I created a Google Classroom that centralized the system so that editors and writers could work in the same space. Furthermore, I am adept at rapidly reviewing and polishing articles after working as an editor for Investopedia and for UCLUNA Press, and I hope to bring these same skills into running the Circum Mundum.
I look forward to collaborating with all the writers and contributing to this amazing publication! Thank you for your consideration!

Hi everyone, I'm Clara! With a talent for writing and strong leadership foundation, I’m excited to run for Chief-Editor!
My experience began as Chief-Editor of my high school's newspaper. I led a team of 40+ writers, reviewed monthly articles, and held biweekly meetings. More importantly, I was challenged with intentional plagiarism, which tested my leadership and problem-solving abilities. These experiences taught me the importance of resilience and adaptability, which are qualities I’m eager to bring to Circum Mundum.
Within the IR society, I had the incredible opportunity to represent UCL at the Global Peace Summit in Bangkok, where I was chosen to craft an impactful speech. More than demonstrating commitment, I acknowledged (and practiced) the influential power of words.
As a Politics and International Relations student, I'm highly interested in global events and pressing issues. Yet, fake news and misinformation remain widespread and must be tackled. This is why my 3 main goals are:
- Do more than just inform: make news interesting, engaging, diverse, and especially accessible to all audiences
- Create a safe space for writers to discuss what interests them without boundaries of word count, grades, or pressure. Different interests, cultures, and origins are appreciated.
- Ensure professional, factual, and accurate content while helping writers refine their writing skills.
If you're willing to work together towards the power of communication and relevance in IR, vote for me! :)
