I’ve chosen to run for Fundraising officer because I would love the opportunity to take my role to the next level next year. Throughout this term I have learned the ins and outs of Fundraising; from logistics and engagement to strategy and marketing. I’ve had to adapt to new challenges and setbacks with each event which is why I feel my experience thus far will act as a solid guide to delivering an even stronger 2nd term.
Here is my list of priorities that will inform my fundraising strategy going forward:
- Strategic collaborations: We’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with many societies which I plan to continue with the next year. My aim will be to carefully select collaborations that not only generate revenue but foster community building too.
- Membership engagement: Perhaps our biggest hurdle this year as a society was lacking engagement from our members which is why moving forward I will invite participation from the earliest stages of planning rather than the final. My aim is to make members feel included at every stage of our fundraisers. Methods to go about this include regular meetings, proposals, appointments and overall stronger communication between the committee and members.
- Elevating previously successful models: Over the past year I have evaluated each event based on its revenue performance. With timing being one of the biggest factors of success, I can use my existing experience within the role to maximise success on both recycled and new fundraisers.
