Hi everyone! I'm Alex, and I would love to be your president next year! Spending my Wednesdays with all of you over the past two years has been the highlight of my university experience. I am so proud of the amazing community we have built, who support one another both on and off the pitch. The progress we've made as a club this year is something we should all be proud of and i would love to keep building on that success. With another four years left in the club, I see my presidency as a chance to offer continuity for current members and future freshers alike. I would work hard to preserve the traditions we all love and adore. In my role as fitness secretary this year, I’ve already faced some of the challenges a president may encounter, such as coordinating events across both clubs. However, I believe that I have the skills needed to overcome these challenges.
- Club Day: having a home pitch and reintroducing club day to allow for greater integration across clubs, with alcohol having less importance
- Training Times & Pitch Space: secure more pitch space at the 6pm training slot, as I know the 5pm slot often leads to lower attendance
-
Increased Charity Focus: increase attendance at Hockey Inner City and enhance our club’s charity efforts. The men’s club does a fantastic job with Movember, and I am determined for us to reach that same level with more events surrounding Coppafeel.
Thank you :)

Dearest UCLWHC,
That’s right, this history student is doing a panic Masters, who would've guessed (it was that or a law conversion). But luckily for me, this presents me with the genuine honour of running to be your President for my final season at the Club. It's testament to the compassion and the unity of this entire Club that my character transformation from shy, silly fresher has been possible, and so nothing would make me prouder than to represent you all as President.
My academic record may now lie in ruins, but being Mixed Captain this year has been ridiculous fun, and represents exactly the sort of environment and social setting I'd like to maintain as President. One of the things I set out to do at the start of the year was make sure all abilities and ages felt able to come down to Lee Valley, and looking back on the season, I'm so proud to say I've accomplished that. The last two years has really impressed on me the importance of a setting in which freshers and seniors across teams can mix in a setting which doesn't necessarily involve drinking for the sake of getting drunk, because this is what it means to be a 'Club,' and not just four different hockey teams. This likewise extends to socialising with the Men's club - I'm a strong believer that seeing them in a non-Wednesday atmosphere is crucial for 'integration’ and especially for freshers, which is a word chucked around a lot but nonetheless essential.
I look forward to discussion this and more at AGM.
