I am excited to stand for the role of Operations Manager because I am passionate about both golf and creating a well-organized, thriving society for all members. I have played golf at a young age and just recently regained the passion for golf in university. My goal is to enhance the efficiency of our operations, ensuring seamless event planning, and smooth logistics.

I have always had a leadership role during high school, such as being team captain, treasurer and advisor, so I have experience in handling administrative work and also leading a team, thus have developed strong operational skills and the ability to manage logistics efficiently. I will ensure timely scheduling of tournaments, training sessions, and socials, while improving communication between members, coaches, and the committee. As Operation Manager for the Golf Society, I will ensure that every event runs smoothly, efficiently, and is more enjoyable for all members.

Shuvam Dhakal

I am standing for the role of Operations Manager because I want to contribute to the smooth running and growth of the society that has given me an incredible sense of belonging.

My journey with UCL Golf Society began with the “Closest to the Pin” competition in Greenwich. Not only did I secure first place, but it was also the moment I felt warmly welcomed into a community of golfers who share a passion for the sport. Wanting to be more engaged, I started attending weekly practices, connecting with new members, and improving my game. I further strengthened my bond with the society by participating in events like the Scramble competition, where my partner (and my part-time coach Juan) and I placed second.

If elected, I will work to ensure our training sessions remain well-organized and accessible, improve coordination for monthly competitions, and streamline logistics for society events. I also aim to introduce new and creative competition formats that allow players of all levels to participate, compete, and enjoy the game in a welcoming environment – just as I did when I first joined. My goal is to make UCL Golf Society an even more inclusive and well-structured community.

Charlie Bates

I’d love to take on the role of Operations Manager for the Golf Society, as I’m a committed member who’s passionate about both golf and making sure the club runs smoothly. Golf has been a big part of my life, and being part of this society has only strengthened my love for the game. I want to contribute beyond just playing by helping with the behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything running efficiently.

My experience as a Sales Assistant at Kinleigh Folkard and Hayward taught me how to communicate effectively and stay organised in a fast-paced environment, while my role as a lifeguard at Nuffield Health has given me experience in teamwork, responsibility, and handling logistics under pressure. I’m confident these skills will help me manage emails, coordinate range sessions, and ensure smooth communication between committee members and society members.

As someone who’s already actively involved in the society, I want to help make it even better by ensuring everything runs efficiently and that members get the best experience possible. I’d love the opportunity to take on this role and contribute to the club in a meaningful way.
