Hi I’m Jack, a first-year geography student running for Treasurer of the Geography Society. I’m dedicated to ensuring that the society runs smoothly and successfully. With strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to financial responsibility, I am eager to take on the role and contribute to the society’s growth.
As Treasurer, my priority would be to maintain clear and transparent financial records, ensuring that our funds are managed as efficiently as possible. I will work to secure funding opportunities, budget effectively for events, and explore ways to maximize financial resources to provide the best value for members. Whether it’s field trips, guest lectures, or social events, I want to ensure that we have the financial stability to make them viable, accessible, and successful.
Beyond managing the budget, I am committed to making decisions that reflect the interests of all members. I will work closely with the committee to ensure expenditure is well thought out and beneficial to the society. Additionally, I will aim to introduce new fundraising initiatives to grow our financial capacity, providing bigger and better events.
I’m keen to bring my reliability, and financial knowledge to the position. I truly believe that, with careful budgeting and planning, we can expand the society’s opportunities and make it even more engaging for all members. I would love the opportunity to serve as your Treasurer and help shape an exciting year ahead!

Hi!

I would love to be your GeogSoc Treasurer for next year as I have some cracking excel skills and would love to put them to use to help GeogSoc budget our various events and activities. Having worked as a first year rep for the past few months I have been able to gain experience working with the current committee and would also ensure I work hard to maintain a close relationship with the rest of the committee so that GeogSoc remains a successful society next year!

Thank you and I hope I have your vote :)

Lian Neha Holden

I am keen to work with the Geography Society at UCL as Treasurer as I would like carry on the duties of financial management in budgeting for events, talks and socials for members. I am also interested in launching a wider scope for the society in representing the specific needs of students such as in connection to job markets, future academic niches and training sessions which would all require support. I feel confident in having useful skills and experiences to work effectively as Treasurer. I had have experience in liaison with university departments, international and UK companies as Head of Liaison for the ASEAN conference society which has equipt me with financial management and communication skills crucial to this role.

As a geography student, I hope to uphold sustainable and ethical practices as treasurer by supporting partnerships with like-minded organisations and societies and by enhancing transparency in society objectives and resources. This would empower students with knowledge on what their society is able to provide. My plan is to support students from WP backgrounds which Is why I am keen to source more funding to reduce the costs of student engagement with the outcome ofaccessible activities ranging from CV-worthy experiences to entertainment and social events.

Phoebe Qu

I am excited to run for Treasurer of GeogSoc for 2025/26 because I want to apply my quantitative and analytical skills to good use, keeping our finances in check while making sure we have the budget to put on amazing events next year!

Studying Geography with Social Data Science has given me a strong foundation in problem-solving and data-driven decision-making, beneficial for managing budgets and financial planning. My interest in economic geography and finance has led me to explore how financial systems shape places and communities. Additionally, as a project consultant for UCL Consulting Society, I’ve been analysing market potential and financial strategies, developing skills in forecasting, and strategic thinking - all of which will help me manage GeogSoc’s finances effectively. Beyond that, my experience as a management committee member in a student-led journal has helped me develop strong organisational skills.

As Treasurer for Geogsoc, I will ensure financial transparency, manage budgets efficiently, and explore more sponsorship opportunities to secure funding for even bigger and better events. I will work closely with the committee to ensure the society's finances support diverse and engaging opportunities for the members, as well as expanding the society's reach and impact!
